    Growth Scan

Okay, so I know measurements aren't the be all and end all, and don't have a 100% accuracy, but I'm starting to worry
My fundal measurements are only just out and so my OB has asked that I have a growth scan just to double check bub is going okay. I thought I was okay with it. DS is on the small side (3.1kg born) and at 14months is 9.5kg, and DH and I aren't big.

The scan is on Monday and the closer it gets the more freaked out I am that bub is going to be too small. I was 65kg when I fell pregnant, I'm now 66kg. I am still feeding DS 3-4 times a day, and I know that I don't eat enough but between morning sickness and no appetite it is hard to force myself to eat anymore than one decent meal a day.

Blergh, I don't even know what I need from this post, I think I just need someone to tell me that it will be okay. My head is my own worst enemy

Yep. Babies are the most efficient parasites (heh heh) out there when it comes to making sure they get all the nutrients they need for growth. Pretty sure everything will be fine, 3.1kg isn't huge but it certainly isn't tiny either - my DD was a little less than that born and I'm not exactly a small person.

I'm sure bubs will be fine, my OB told me even if I didn't eat, bubs would strip what it needed from my body I was the only one that would suffer not the baby

    Many :hugs:

    Thanks girls
I know bub will take what she needs, it's just hard when I know I'm not putting much in there for her to benefit from. It doesn't help when anxiety and pnd are on board either!

Lots of movement though so I know that is good

Think of how many women have morning sickness all through pregnancy, lose weight, and still have nice chubby babies. I on the other hand put on 19kg with DD1 and she didn't. So please don't guilt yourself into thinking that it might be your fault if you baby is too small because you can't eat as well as you'd like, our bodies are designed to cope with that. Plus, bub is likely just fine anyway and Dr just being thorough. Plus anything over 2.5kg is considered normal, babies just vary in size.
As you can see from my sig DD1 was 'too small' IUGR. 2.4kg and 46cm long at 39+5, not that anyone picked it up. But, my point is she is FINE - in fact on the 75% for height & weight, yes we were in the SCN for a few days so she could be monitored as blood sugars and temps of low birth weights is more likely to be low and hers were for a few days. she was sleepier than heavier bubs, but it was more protocol then anything else. I suppose my point is if they're small, and that's their only problem, it's usually ok, they'll just monitor them closely.
