im 34+4days pregs and on thursday night i was just sitting down and when i go up felt a little wet down there and looked and there a a drop of bright red blood!!!! Panicked and called the obs and called the hospital and and they did all these blood tests urine tests ultrasound as well. All is well, baby is absolutley fine and moving heaps, they checked the placentar as well and thats all fine. Also got some contractions,so they put the ctg machine on me, but they stopped in about an hour, so they decided to keep me in for 2 days for monitering, my obs came to check the next morning and had a look inside (which was uncomfortable, he used a this tong looking thing) and said he couldnt see where the blood was coming from! He checked the urine sample and said that the blood was coming from where i wee. He said that he thinks that it could b a small tear in the cervix, and could be from sex as we did have sex the night before and in the morning,but hubby wasnt rough at all and this didnt happen previously when we did it, does the bleeding last for so long? its been 2 days already and still bleeding with some little bits of clots as well-has anyone been through the same situaton?
31wks - had large spot of dark red/brownish blood on my knickers. Went to hossie that night & they did BT's & a scan & bub was good. Bleeding slowed down to a brown discharge so I was allowed to go home but on 'rest' & no more sex before birth. DH and I had not had sex night before.
31.5wks - passed dark clot around size of marble. Remain on bed rest at home.
32wks - small amount of brown discharge again - remain on bed rest at home.
33wks - bright red bleed about as heavy as heavy day of AF. Went to hossie & Ob could see bleeding was going to stop but I had to stay in. Was given steroid injections to mature baby's lungs. Ob said after third bleed believes it's safer to deliver Bub rather than go to term. I also felt that Bub would be safer out too. Planned c/s at 34wks +4 days (was supposed to be 33wks & 5 days but hospital policy wouldn't deliver Bub until I was officially 34wks). Sam was in a humidicrib for 2 days and special care nursery for 6 days, roomed in on the 7th day and went home the next day.
Good luck - at this stage of your pregnancy Bub will do really well if born early. It is scary I don't deny that but I'm sure your hossie will give you both the best of care.
I had no explanation for my bleeding either only that my bleeding was coming from part of the placenta which had come away from uterine wall. My placenta was also low but now covering the cervix.
they checked the placentar and that was fine. They think it could be coming from the cervix. So scary though, i sure hope this bleeding stops otherwise maybe its safer to have bubs early-which is what i prefer. my obs said to stop sex for the moment as well, but i could still go for walks.
Have appointment to see him tom so will see what he says.
hi bubbles, i had exactly the same thing! they did all the tests under the sun and every one of them came back fine. partner and i had sex a week before the bleeding and was told no more sex till after baby born. midwife and doctors said it may have been because when preg your cervix is soft and sex may irritate it..something like that. i hope all is good
just came back from obs and he said that he thinks its a small tear in the cervix-which could be due to sexual intercourse, we saw bubs as well on the ultrasound moving about and sticking her foot in my ribs!! So all is fine,such a relief! 35 weeks tomorrow!!!!
had a scare!
