    Unhappy nightmares and funny feelings

    Hi ladies,

For the last few weeks I've been having awful nightmares, mostly about the pregnancy and baby, e.g. Bleeding, bad birth experience, dropping her or her rolling on her face, and some scary ones like being lost or harrassed by men at a party (as if I go to parties pg but anyway) and I keep waking up shaken and scared....and I keep seeing things/figures out of the corner of my eye in the dark when I get up and go to the toilet....I even had a dream that dp and I were lying in bed and I could see a figure coming closer and closer and I was shaking dp and he wouldn't wake up and I woke up screaming...is this normal??
Im starting to dread going to sleep and nighttime toilet trips
    Any similar experiences or advice?

I had some really really bad ones in my 3rd trimester...
They were extremely horrific and i woke in tears sometimes, i would say that this is pretty normal, as awful as they are - hormones and stress/apprehension relatig to the birth of your bubba..
I found that if i had a bad day, ate late or was stressed i was more likely to have them, so i tried having a shower before bed and a hot/cold milk if i was hungry (instead of food)

No real advice im sorry, but i found that they did go away and didnt come back one i relaxed more - could you do an hour of relaxation in the evening? not necessarily before bed, i use to do it at 5pm after work before DH came home or i would go for a walk. Also make sure that you are talking to your DP about any fears and anxieties that you may hae, and if not him, make sure you have someone you can chat too - i found this helped too.

Take care, i know how awful these dreams must be for you.

    Exactly what SammieJane said.
I was actually warned about bad dreams in the third trimester by my drs and midwives. Sure enough, the past couple of nights I've had horrible dreams (normally I don't have bad dreams at all).
Dont worry, hon, it's just hormones and aprehension and all of that fun business. Yet another "joy" of pregnancy.
All I can suggest is trying not to focus on them, as the stress woulnd't help at all. I hope they pass soon for you!

I was warned about nightmares etc in relation to blood sugar levels ( i have GD) and was told that a glass of milk or a bit of yoghurt before bed will help stabilise BSL's during the night. If I have a hypo episode (low sugar)in the middle of the night i do have nightmares.... and if I get too hot as well.... and just the hormones too I think.

    hope you find a solution.

    Ta ladies

I think I should cut down on the sugary stuff and caffiene before bed, that prob doesn't help!!! Last nite had dreams about zombies and stuff yukkkk and keep waking up even when I don't need to pee (usually a fairly deep sleeper) so when I get up I feel like I haven't even been to bed!!

I've read that it is quite common to have nightmares in the third trimester - I'm sure it's just your unconscious brain's way of working through any stresses or anxieties related to pregnancy, babies and birth. I've had some crazy ones over the past few weeks...one in which I gave birth to a big, black dog (!), which began circling and stalking me as soon as it was born, and another in which my still-unborn daughter was born by clawing her way out of my skin! Oh, and she was a robot baby with one red and one green eye. I woke my husband up screaming both times, apparently!

Maybe someone needs to start a thread for the interpretation of crazy dreams during pregnancy?
