Clary sage is very potent stuff, so unless you have a need to go into labour early (ie the doctor is threatening you with induction or ceasrean for some medical reason unless you labour spontaneously) then try not to use it until 40 weeks.
It smells pretty vile so a good way to use it is mix with some jasmine (will also help you labour) and lavender or ylang ylang, and put a few drops of this mix in some milk before adding it to your bath. Alternatively mix it with almond or olive oil and use this as a massage blend which you can rub around your belly. Don't apply too much as it is very strong, but this is an excellent blend for encouraging early labour or for strengthening weak contractions (use every 15 minutes until contractions are nice and strong)
thank you
no dont plan on using it till bubs is late.
just see it being spoken of and didnt really understand..
Basically it is an essential oil that encourages uterine contractions. It can also be helpful for painful periods. You can get it at any health food store, and it should come with some directions about how many drops should be added to a carrier oil before it is safe to apply to the skin.
You can also put it in an oil burner during labour to help your contractions, but definatly mix it with other oils if you do this as clary sage stinks!
For what it's worth I like the smell![]()
Clary Sage is supposed to irritate your uterus into labour.
It did not work for me!
