    Sharp pain in lower abdomen

Hi girls, i'm sure its perfectly normal but i was wondering if anyone has had really sharp pains in their lower abdomen that has been going on (and off) for about 14 hrs straight (I'm 37 weeks today). Last night in bed it felt like contractions (altho only in the lower abdomen) so i assumed it was painful braxton hicks. It kind of went away when i got up for half an hour, then started again for another couple of of hours then either I fell asleep with it or it went away until i woke up about 3 hours later. Its been happening all day today as well, a sharp pain that maybe lasts 5-10seconds (sometimes longer) then eases for a bit then disappears, very irregular (sometime every 3-5 mins, sometimes i get a half hour break). Is it braxton hicks or perhaps bub grinding his head further down into my pelvis? (He wasn't engaged when i went to see my midwife yesterday).

Any and all comments greatly appreciated....

    Hi hopefulgirl,
It sounds to me like it might be early labor! I hope you're ok with that at 37 weeks. Good luck!

Thanks Pholi, I'm not convinced it is, seems too localized, but I'm monitoring it & have DH on standby Doesn't seem to have ramped up, so we'll see...

BTW, I saw your ticker, congratulations! Best wishes for a wonderful pregnancy...

Hopeful - of course being a first timer I have no idea but I've had very irregular (like a couple of times a day) but very sharp stitch and stab pains in my lower abdomen and my OB said it was baby moving its head further down into the pelvis.

Hey ladylove, as I posted in our BH thread I'm happy to report that pain has eased today so I think it was z combination of BH & bub being prompted to nestle down as I def feel like I'm walking around a head today (ie. waddling)
