    long wet waiting...

just over 27 hours ago my membranes ruptured and it has been a long wet wait for labor to start! still waiting...

i had a show at 8pm monday, then 2am tuesday woke up with broken waters. i phoned the hospital who told me to go get some sleep and wait for labor to start, which in the majority of women is within 12 hours, and the small minority within 24 hours.

hubby stayed home from work all day and we sat and waited and i had heaps of mild irregular contractions... etc etc nothing much except for using up almost all my super soaker maternity pads and drinking litres of water to replace the fluid.

later in the evening they got me to go in and tested the fluid - yes its amnio,
did an internal exam - cervix fully softened, 1cm dilated! traced his heart beat and its all good.they said they can wait four days after membranes rupture for labor to start then if it doesnt they have to induce.
i have to check my temperature and be really careful not to get an infection. they said i would probably be back during the night hehehe...

so i came home to get some sleep, contractions got stronger for a while and i thought it might happen but no! still waiting!

so thats my story so far... im up now swinging my hips around hoping that will get things moving, thoroughly bored with this long wet wait!

How exciting! (not the long wait part, lol) But you're soooooo close! Hurray! When I was trying to get labour established with Emily, I did a lot of walking - stairs and uneven ground, I found, were the best for stimulating contractions. But, make sure you get plenty of rest too - you don't want to go into labour already exhausted!
All the best for a great labour and delivery! Hope it goes quickly and easily for you, and that you are soon holding your new little person in your arms.

Stimulate your nipples! I'm not kidding - my waters broke first too and fiddling with them REALLY got my contractions going. I rolled, squeezed and pulled (gently! don't do anything that hurts!) for 15 mins of every hour and it definitely helped things along. Also, probably sounds mad but if you can get into the groove then kissing and snuggling with your hubby can make a big difference too - anything that makes oxytocin (sex, nipple stimulation, kissing, caressing - even massage)!

Best of luck hun, i hope your labour, when it begins, is swift and uncomplicated.

How exciting... I hope it all gets happening soon hun!

I would definately go for a walk if you're up to it. Try and make it a brisk walk, it really gets things going!

Maybe wear a poncho and you can walk and play with your nipples at the same time

Goodluck. I was also going to suggest the nipple stimulation. Otherwise can you get to an acupuncturist ? Or one to come to you ? My waters broke and I had no contractions with Abbey too so I got a friend who is an acupuncturist to come out and give me a really strong session.

You can also use the breastpump to stimulate your nipples. Added bonus is any colostrum you get out you can freeze

Wishing you a speedy labour when the time comes.
