Just realised....This year we have Feb 29th. So what will happen if your bub is born on this day?

So next year he/she won't have a normal b'day.

If I have to induce, Im def. not choosing the 29th.....

I have a freind who was born on the 29th of Feb, she always celebrates on the 28th, I do remember when we went out for her 18th birthday, we went on the saturday night it was the 28th and the bouncer wouldnt let her in, so we went to the club across the street and got in no probs they thought it was funny.

So on the birth certificate does she have the 29th of Feb or the 28th?

Its like those who have b'days on xmas day - I feel sorry for them...

well 12 years ago this year my DD was to be induced on the 29th of feb and i was devistated because she would only have her real birthdate once every 4 years lol well she must not have liked it either because she is the only one i had without being induced (i have 5 and another on the wy which i bet gets induced) on the 26th of feb and she made it here in 28 mins so i guess she was determined to get here before the 29th.

My baby's due date is Feb 22. My obs said he will let me go up to a week overdue - which means I could be in labour on Feb 29! I suppose all that matters is a healthy baby, but I don't think I can last until Feb 29 anyway - surely 40 weeks is enough??

We talked to a fellow guest at a wedding recently who told us that he'd been at his grandfather's 21st birthday party. Grandad had been born on Feb 29, so was really 84 years old when celebrating his 21st!

LMAO, 40 weeks is more than enough. 8 weeks would have been great for me, find out then pop him out! DS was officially 13 days late (due Jan 31), but I had him down as due Feb 11, so I don't think of him as late. I'm not too happy with your obs "I'll let you do this" - as if he's being so generous! You do what you want, if someone is dictating to you already I wouldn't want him around during the birth! "I'll let you walk for three minutes, then you must lie down on the bed again." But I was dictated to for DS's birth so am very wary of it.

My Dad was born Feb 29th, so he's still a teenager. For his 18th he's going on the Orient Express, going to have to think of something special for his 21st too. He'll be 14 this year - I'm going to buy him a toy car for his 17th but can't think of anything special for this year.

Feb birthdays are the best, because you get toys from the sales, so you get more haha. Must admit, I wouldn't want a Christmas bub, but then Niece's birthday is Christmas Day so that's a bigger part of it.

Forgot to mention before, my dad has his party whichever weekend is closest to 28th Feb/1st March, but officially you are "supposed" to celebrate your leap-year birthday on the 1st of March, as you are a year older then, on the 28th you aren't old enough.

Fortunately i can....well for my first to kids i have been able to.

I just meant that we can plan when we want babies, but not everyone is as lucky as you were - if you had been trying for a year, would you really hold off one month just in case you had a Christmas baby? If I had troubles conceiving, I wouldn't say no to a Christmas baby: I wouldn't say no to any baby at all!

And Feb babies are the best. You can't beat a Feb-born person for all-round fantasticness. Yup, it is my birthday next month LOL.

Of course if i had troubles conceiving i wouldnt say no to any month baby. But at the moment touch wood i dont have that issue...so i can *try* for months id like. its liek trying to get a boy or a girl....its all pot luck.

my due date is the 1st March. When I was first pregnant, I kept asking everyone if all the calculators and due date wheels took into account that this year was a leap year and had an extra day.

For me, it is all a bit of a joke. I mean, baby could come on that day no matter what. Isn't really high on my list of concerns.

I have a Dec 29 daughter and am due with #4 on 3rd of March and i don't hate it one bit i am lucky to have them no matter when they are born.

Im due on the 29th Feb - if bubs does decide to enter the world on that day we will celebrate on the 28th as SIL's bday is 1st March - incidentally she was born on a leap year and only just made it to the 1st!

I dont think that it matters when they are born, they come out when they are ready... it is harder having abday so close to christamas as they have to wait all year (DSS bday is 5th Jan) and if its in school holidays it is harder to plan birthdays, but it doesnt matter that much

I actually think that it would be pretty cool to be born on 29th feb, as i think the year that you get to celebrate on the actual day would be more special. DSS asked if his brother or sister was born on the 29th if we had to save up its presents and only give it to them every 4 years LOL

I'm due on the 27th, and bub can easily decide to come out on the 29th!
It will make it's birthday interesting, though I'm sure he/she will get sick of people asking about its birthdate.
Dont know if we'll celebrate on the 28th or 1st if bub comes out on the 29th. LOL - I can imagine bub having a mid-life crisis while technically still being a teenager! whooa!
