Losing weight - should I worry?

No, I'm not trying to lose weight!

I jumped on the scales this morning, at the same time of day as I usually do, and with the same amount in my digestive system as normal. On the same scales I have used since the beginning of the pregnancy.

According to them, I have lost 2kg in a week, and I lost a kilo in the week before that. I'm a little bit concerned.

The reading from this morning puts me at 12kg overall weight gain.

I'm doing that usual woman thing and sort of convincing myself they might be broken, and will see what they say DH is when he gets home - but he's not that reliable because he doesn't really keep track of his weight.

Should I be at all worried about this?

    Audax,

I had to ask my doc to weigh me because he hadn't and says that there is no need.
I wouldn't be surprised if i've lost weight recently as I haven't been as hungry in the 3rd trimester. Is this the same for you? Do you find you're eating less now?
I don't think there is any need to worry so long as you are eating a well balanced diet.
Why don't you give your doc a call and just see what they say.

Just thought i'd add that i also lost a little weight towards the end of both my pg. I never gained more than 12kgs and lost 3-4 in the last month. (My own scales btw, the docs never bothered weighing me).

Keep your liquids up in the warmer weather (yes, I know, everyone tells you that!!)

Yep I was the same too, put on 14kg all up, lost 4 in the last month, I remember being in labour and hearing the MW discussing how I'd lost weight and thinking I was about to lose a heap more too

    Don't worry about it.
I'd only think it was a concern if you suddenly gained heaps and blew up with fluid or something.

Bub's rapidly gaining weight, trying to fatten up before birth so that could be contributing to it. I'd only be worried if the fundus suddenly blew up or decreased, as that could be something to do with amniotic fluid levels. Are you on 2 weekly appts now?

if you suddenly gained heaps and blew up with fluid or something.
I have the most hilarious mental picture of that. And accompanying explosion noise.

Yes, I'm on fortnightly appts now, have one on Weds, so will ask.

Please update the thread when you go to the appt! I've only put on 2kg since pre-preg weight and I've been told that I've lost weight by some blokes at work - apparently my butt and thighs are tiny! I also notice today that I no longer have bat-wings and have better cheek-bones. But i've not been weighed by the midwives since the first appt.
