    low baby weight

    Hi
    I am 38 weeks pregnant.
Last week i did a scan and the doc told me that my baby weigh only 2.074 kg...
I m really upset and worried after hearing this....She also said that since my hubby and me are small its normal to have a small baby....but i have read in many books that babies below 2.5kg are underwieht and will have serious health problems..........I have 2 CTG scan and a Doppler to check if everything is normal and if baby is growing properly.................

meanwhile is thr any way that I can increas my baby's weight....????

has any1 had such an expwerience..plzz share...

Don't forget too that your baby still has a few weeks to put on weight as well. The average is around 28 grams per day from 36wks until the birth plus those scans are notoriously wrong! If you are both small people then there was every chance that bubs is going to be small too. I know quite a few babies who were around that size or slightly bigger and none of them were born sick or have ongoing health problems, they were just born small. If there is no medical issue like IUGR, then everything will be fine most likely. One thing to remember is that those growth charts are made up of the very small babies and the very big ones and everything in between.

I was told DD1 was too small I was measuring about two weeks behind, I was about to have a scan and be put on bed rest so she could grow when she arrived at 34 weeks weighing 3.5 kilos so not so little after all. The tests are not 100% accurate so your baby maybe bigger than what the tests are showing, and as Trillian has said you still have two weeks to go.
