Maternity bra fitting
Hello all!!
Very new to the forum - this is my second post after an intro about myself.
Just a quick question - where do you ladies get your maternity bras fitted? I understand that one should get it fitted so that the bra is the right size for the the milk comes in. I didn't really get mine fitted, I just assumed that it would increase by a size or 2 so I bought a few pairs which were larger than my normal bras. But since attending my pre-natal classes and all, I'm a little skeptical now.
Any help is most appreciated....

I just got mine fitted at Myer by a fitting specialist...really worth it...
I've been wearing them since about 30 weeks...not the most attractive things...but they feel pretty comfy...she suggested that I may need to go and have another fitting once my milk comes in...I think I'll just see how I go...
And congratulations on your pregnancy...we're only about a week apart!
Have you seen the new brand that's out "Hot Milk" very very gorgeous. VEry unmaternity and they go up to 16F...

I've seen them Flowerchild...they look great! Except I'm a 18DD...don't feel like I'm that big...but that it was I was told to get...and they do fit fairly well...

Hi and welcome Mistyeiz!
I've been fitted twice- once at Myer at 9wks pg, just because my boobs had ballooned and I desperately needed new bras- and the second time at the Australian Breastfeeding Association shop in East Malvern. Both were very good, but my vote is for the ABA lady who not only spent nearly an hour with me, but explained how my boobs would change once the baby had arrived, and why I needed a particular size (my bosoms have an entertaining habit of growing milk tissue out the side rather than up the top, if you follow me). So if you're anywhere near East Malvern, definitely head over there.
I can also affirm from personal experience that the Hot Milk bras are not only gorgeous, they are unbelievably comfy as well. Purr purr. (although I was not expecting to be a 14F. Zoiks.) Triumph is a brilliant brand as well for support, but in appearance looks as though it was made by somebody with an engineering degree.
Definitely get fitted though- it makes such a difference comfortwise.

O, I'm so glad to hear this coz Westfield is just down the road and I can go over this weekend and get myself fitted!!
Btw, do I have to like call up and make an appointment for this or is the lady there all the time?? Btw, if do you mind me asking [and I know you cant really say which brand u bought] but what was the average price of a maternity bra, ie.the one that you paid for?

No, sadly I'm not familiar with it, what being new in the country n all. Plus, I'm not even sure what my size is!! Lol All I know is that I was a 38C when I wasn't preggie but now....maybe a size up?

I got fitted at Bras n things. The girl there was ok helpful, but didnt have a large range of stock. I have a Triumph factory outlet down the road from me, so I'm gonna have a look-see there soon. ATM I only have 1 bra! **shame** Gotta get some more before bub arrives!
KirstenFleur LOL at the engineering degree! I so agree. Why is it that maternity bras are traditionally so very very very ordinary. It's like as soon as you have a placenta you are not supposed to care! My little celebration at making it past this week will be to buy some new bras. I am busting out of mine - it's quite horrendous. My bb's are HUGE! I will have to go to Brisbane to find the Hot MIlk brand - they look so gorgeous.
Monnie: you may find a 16E may fit. I seem to recall that that once I had to go down a back size but up a cup size to fit into a bra I wanted but wasn't in my original fitted size. Just a thought if you want to go glam "Hot Milk"!
Mistyeiz: It is true that underwires are not good in pregnancy. It can block the ducts and blood supply somewhat...

flowerchild : yea, i've been hearing that and maybe coz i dont see any changes i've been less worried but i think it's time to get something done.
sconeonamission : well, i'm the opposite!!! lol i have a fair few [4 to be exact] but none of which i'm confident [now] that they are the right size!! hence the fitting this weekend.

Flowerchild - where do you get the Hot Milk ones??? I am usually a 10-12 DD but when pg am a 14F - and can only find horrible bras!

Flowerchild- perhaps everyone thinks that there's no reason to care about your appearance as we're just going to lose it all once the baby arrives?A painful attitude, I must say.

Sporty they are very delicious and they have a website. Just google HOT MILK and it will come up... They even have matching undies... Oooh la la!

Gee I'm glad I read this thread! I've had maternity bras since about 13 weeks and was quite happy with the loveable bransd from Myer. I most likely though will have to get more cause I'm growing! It's good to ehar about the ABA in EAst Malvern - my mum used to be a counsellor for them and I know how realible they can be!
