I couldn't agree more Shannon. IMO obs and midwives should be banned from using scales. As you say wieghing pregnant women is getting less and less common and a lot of healthcare providers consider it kind of old fashioned. My hospital has a set of scales but they only weigh people who ask and I have never once seen anybody use them. The only reason I know how much weight I gained (25 kg on top of 50kg - thats 50% of my bodywieght LOL) is because I was so bored in the antenatal ward that weighing myself seemed like an interesting way to pass a minute or two.
Just so long as you're eating well and you're healthy you're weight is really irrelevant and there isn't much to be gained from comparing yourself to others. There will always be people who gained less or more than yourself and your baby won't ever grow up and thank you for looking like a whippet with a watermelon shoved down your dress when you were pregnant .
