    Smile Natural induction

Hi I've looked for another thread on this but cant find anything.

I was just after some tips on self induction. Im due on the 1st of may and booked in for a c-section on the 1st of may. My ob said If I went into labour before hand he would let me trial natural labour this is what I really want to do. Does anyone have some tips on natural induction? And also I see my ob next week do you think I should ask for a membrane sweep? Will he do it even though ive have a previous c-section, I know they wont do any other type of induction. Please help I relly want to have a vbac!!

    Thanks guys

Honestly, I would tell your Ob to stick his c/s up his bum. Do you know what the chances are of going into labour naturally before your due date? Not great, so he is effectively just p1ssing in your pocket when he tells you that he will let you have a VBAC provided you go into labour before your due date (I notice your EDD in your sig is 24/4 - so is the may 1st date his or your's?) and has basically taken away any chance of you having a VBAC. What was the reason for your first c/s? If it wasn't anything to do with your body, then there is a great chance that you will be able to vaginally birth your baby - if you are given the time to let your body do its thing. I would be demanding another week to give it time to happen on its own if I were in your shoes.

my edd is 1 may and my original c/s/date was the 24th of april, And Ive pushed for the extention to which he extended it to the 1st of may. My first c/s was due to prolonged labour and baby in distress. So I think Im quiet capable of vbac, The more I think about it the more I want to do it.

Do you think that you could still bargain for more time? If you really want to do it, then you should - it isn't fair that you miss out because your ob can't wait.

EZA_JAY first of all well done on getting the extension of time. They certainly can do a membrane sweep after a c-sec and if favourable they can even break your waters. I have had this done with all bar one of my vbac's. Mind you i wasn't put on a time line as to wehn i hda to have my baby by, which i think puts a hell of a lot of stress on you that your really dont need! I went over with all my vbac's(i have had 4) and as i said they did a membrane sweep one afternoon and then back up to hospital next morning and had my waters broken! From there they left me alone to potter around the hospital and do my own thing. SO there is no reason why you have to commit to a c-sec at all. I would ask at your next visit that they do an internal and if favourable to do a membrane sweep with teh look at following with your waters being broken if all goes accordingly! Otherwise just wait it out! It is your body and at the end of the day if you don't go in for your booked c-sec they can't do anything about it!

I am just about to trial a VBA2C, as my last was a c-sec due to breech presentation, I can tell you i have had a huge fight on my hands to get this opportunity but at the end of the day the last doc i saw said that as long as labour progresses once it starts I can go full steam ahead!

    Good luck

Eza... I say fight for your rights hun. I had a VBAC last March and it was the best thing I've ever done. I really wanted it and I think that if you want it you should be allowed to at least give it a go. I think from what you've said that you would be quite fine with a VBAC. Is there a particular reason you're being told that you are going to have another c/s if you haven't gone into labour before 1st May?? That's putting a lot of pressure on you - undue pressure and stress IMO. No natural inductions will work if your body and baby aren't ready. Personally, I would speak to your OB again and really stress how important it is for you to have a VBAC or to at least be allowed to try for it. My mantra was... my body and baby know what to do...and they did All the best hun.

Thanks everyone for all your support and success stories!! I see my ob next week I will speak to him then. Cant wait I hope He'll do a sweep for me. There is no reason Why Im booked in for c/s 1st of may I guess ob didnt want me to over 40 weeks I was booked for the 24th of april but got an extention. I just assumed that you were automatically booked in for c/s after already having one. Im really excited DP is being supportive but the rest of the family isnt they think Im putting myself and bubs in danger hope all goes well

    Hiya EZA JAY,

It might not work but its worth giving it ago if you can, on my due date my hubby and I did the deed at 11.30 pm and I was in labour by 12.00, was 8 cm dilated by 1am and my baby girl was born at 2.59am. So it might be worth a go, TMI it might not be the best sex youv'e ever had but it can do the trick LOL. Missy
