my mind set on having my own OB

I went for my 37 week check up and talked to my OB about what we want in labour etc, and found out he isn't working for the next two weeks. Now i trust my hospital, everyone is lovely haven't had a drama yet. I have my mind set on my Ob. He has seen me through my whole pregnancy, i've paid for him and i feel comfortable with him. Being this is my first its all a bit daunting. My only main concern the OB that i would get if he isn't there is this other guy who from what i've heard is a pro c- section type. Meaning he's more inclined to op for a c-section then go vaginal birth. My Ob said there is no reason at this stage that i need one, the baby is in a perfect position at this stage. And if i need a c-section to have a healthy happy baby fine, but not for the sake of it. Now i'm worried that ill go early while he's away. Knowing me it'll happen. hopefully my bub cant cook for at least another 2 weeks

    I hear you!!

I too was quite annoyed when my OB told me he was going on holidays starting the day I was due.... I guess I consider myself lucky now I have no choice other than to be induced in my 39th week - before he leaves.

I just wonder though - who will I get checking on me and bub after she arrives?

If your ob is away then they will have a replacement to fill in for them.

See, this is the catch with having an ob - they may not be able to be there for whatever reason if they are away or they may not even make it in time anyway. And they are entitled to have a break - they can't be expected to be there for EVERYONE's births now can they?

I am still happy with my obstetric care... I do realise that someone else will replace him, but for some reason I'd like to meet them in advance (no drama if I dont however).

I really liked the idea of just seeing ONE person for all my check-ups. I'm a bit particular like this with my pets' doctors (vets) so you could only imagine what I'm like with my health!

First of all good luck on your up and coming journey, second, not to scare you but dont let them do a c-section unless thats what you want or there is an emergency. Your body, your baby, your birth.
