    Need Advice - Stomach pain

    Hi all,
I was wondering if any one could give me some advice. This is my first pregnancy so not sure what is normal. I am getting pains under my left rib cage...not all the time, mainly when i have been on my feet for a while. Its always in the same place. I first started feeling it a fortnight ago and thought I'd pulled a muscle (as that's what it feels like - overstretched muscle/nagging pain that sometimes goes to a stab) they have been getting worse (not unbearable) but am not seeing doc till next week ...any ideas
    I'm only 28 weeks.:icon_question:

Has the baby lodged itself (a foot or something) up there? i know my kids would always jam a foot or arm up there, and it was the most uncomfy thing...

If you are at all worried, please call your midwife.

I've had similar pains and my mum seemed to think it was the baby kicking or applying pressure on a nerve in the area. I used to stand or sit up straight and rub the area to try and relieve the pain.

Try standing up straight and reaching as high as you can while breathing in and out. I'd tell your caregiver at your next appointment, but I'm pretty sure it's just bub

It could also be your rib cages stretching to make room for the baby - I had a similar thing and thats what my midwife said it was.

Me too - i had this pain a lot around the late 20s-early 30ish weeks. It's gone now the baby has engaged. I think it was a combo of ribs stretching, and baby leaning on a nerve somewhere. I found an ice pack on the back ribs for just 5 mins at a time (not any longer) helped.

I agree with Percy. It is your rib cage growing
