In all honesty the one and only time I checked my cervix whist pregnant, it felt so completely different from 'usual' - I ended up at A&E thinking I could feel my bag of waters. It was very distressing (everything was fine) but I haven't gone anywhere near it since.
From my own experience I would think that your cervix can behave completely different when you are pregnant and there's no reason to think that it wouldn't be higher than 'normal'. I imagine in the 3rd tri the pressure from the baby would change the shape and possibly it would be shorter anyway.
Mine is measured every 3 weeks and is a healthy 4 cms (fingers crossed it stays that way) but I have been told after 27 weeks they will no longer check my cervix as it changes/shortens and their results become unreliable.
