Question Do you think this could be the beginning??

Hi everyone i am 39 weeks pregnant tomorrow and today i have been getting some weird feelings..like i woke up crampy but it may have been from the simple fact i have had to live on takeaway for 2 days because i was bang smack in the middle of the storm in Newcastle and had no power lol but when i went to the toilet it was almost diahroea (sorry TMI)
I felt ok after that but as the day went on i started to get what im assuming were BH... my tummy gets really tight and it feels like it has dropped really low and i get really breathless...i have been getting these on and off since 26 weeks..plus i have a real achey back.
I have never experienced any pain just the tightenings but because i have been getting them all day on and off and i am feeling a little bit of achey pain i am wondering if this is the beginning of labour??

i didnt get any of this with my first pregnancy my waters broke with no warning...so i feel as if this is my first pregnancy all over again.

I just want to get someone elses opinion.

    Hi Rylansmum,
Firstly I just wanted to wish you well down there in Newcastle, from what I have seen on the news it can't be a fun time ATM. Hope things ease up a little before your little one arrives.

Secondly, I think you could be experiencing pre labour symptoms. Meaning that your body is definately getting ready for the big day. I'm in the same situation as you, this is my second but with my first my waters broke at 39 weeks with no warning, so it's all sort of new to me too. But I have been experiencing alot of pre labour symptoms since I had an early labour stopped with meds at 32 weeks. Alot of what you have mentioned plus some others.

I have also read along the way, that lower back ache and or period type cramps are a good sign of pre labour and or early labour. So fingers crossed for you that it isn't to far off.

And good luck when it does happen

I think you are experiencing pre-labour / early labour. Which is great! Maybe a pain in the butt, but its your body preparing!!

    GOODLUCK!

Thanks MummyMel for the well wishes it was a fun couple of days thats for sure thankfully we were out of the worst of it, just lost power for 2 days was fun trying to explain to my 2 year old DS why he cant watch Thomas

My sister who is 30 weeks pregnant had to be evacuated by boat!!! and she is only approx 2 mins down the road just so unbelievable!!

My waters also broke without warning at 39 weeks with DS so I am really crossing my fingers that this is the start of something, i have had a feeling for a while that i would go this week and the fact that my belly constantly feels tight and my back is aching this much shows that maybe it is more than just my imagination

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy. It is a good sign for me considering you were experiencing what i have been and you had to have you labour stopped

    Thanks again

I can imagine why your DS thought it was the end of the world, NO THOMAS How cute!! I'm so glad to hear that things have settled down a little. Your poor sister, I hope she is alright.

And your very welcome, I hope that things pick up some for you soon. I look forward to reading a birth announcement.

    Good luck

I agree with all the other girls it does sound like what is often called pre-labour. Not long to go now.

PS I'm glad I no longer have to travel through your area.
I hope you and your family have survived without too much inconvenience

Thank you for all the reassurance...not that i dont belive the others its good to hear a "pro" say yep i think it is happening thanks Alan.

I had a pretty full on night the pain in my back and ribs wouldnt go away.. i sometimes get a pain like that from sitting the wrong way and i just need to lay on my back for a little and stretch it out, but nothing would make this go away. I eventually fell asleep and i woke up at 3am with cramps and what i thought was bad wind so i went to the loo and it was really loose (sorry TMI again) but that didnt make any difference to the pain so i went back to bed and i just couldnt get comfy no matter what so i got up and took some panadol and i finally fell asleep.

I woke up this morning and the pain isnt so bad just a ache but i have a weird stitch in my side and again more loose no2s and my belly is tight as soon as i get up and do anything...with all the action last night i expected more today but hey thats the miracle of life isnt it

Thanks again guys it is putting me at ease while still getting excited lol

Thanks Kelly i have read that article a couple of times now and im still not sure if i am getting contractions...which by saying that shows that im not lol....the pain doesnt go away its just constant aching down my sides like a stitch and my back but its not low like period pain its actually kinda high towards the middle of my back.

I know im not in 'established labour' but im just wondering if i am going crazy or if this is actually labour starting because i didnt experience any contractions before i was induced i dont know what the build up feels like.

I am second guessing myself and wanted to see if what i was feeling was actually being experienced by other women or if it was just me over analysing it

    Hi Rylansmum
You are not 'clinically in labour' but from what you have been saying i think that you are only 1 step away from it.

Hi everyone..im still here and no bubba ...its all very annoying atm...all of my pains and BH basically all but stopped on thursday i would still get some random BH especially at night.

I went for a walk around the shopping center just going into every shop there to see if i could get things moving and nothing while i was out and about but later that night teamed up with some nipple stimulation i started to get some serious BH (well they felt just like my BH) but i also got some really low period type pains in my belly and back so i was a bit excited about that...but again they were fairly regular for a little while then disappeared again. Yesterday was very uneventful just a few BH.

Today i have woken up with a achey feeling in my back..maybe things are woeking up again...i just wish something defiante would start

I know she will come when she is ready but i am sooo ready now

I have an appointment with my midwife this afternoon i might ask if they can do an internal to see if what i have been feeling is actually doing anything or just annoying me

    Wish me luck

Still nothing happening , went to see the midwife and they wouldnt do a internal as they said there is no point..even if i had started to thin out etc it doesnt mean i will go into labour in the next couple of days..which does make sense

My hospital books you in for a 41 week appointment where they actually do an internal and see if you are favourable etc and then consider the SS or induction...
I am so trying everything to avoid the induction even if that means carrying this child for 43 weeks

Oh well looks like this little girl is in for the long haul just gotta wait and see.

I am still here and this little girl is really hanging on..i think she doesnt like the cold lol.

Well im really starting to get frustrated..i havnt had alot of pains or anything for a little while just a few niggles here and there but i was certain last night that i would be preparing for the hospital..this is what happened.

I went walking around the shopping center again lol and nothing happened while i was out..when i had a shower that night i had a nice hot long shower and did a little nipple stimulation but gave up because nothing happened...so i went to bed and i was in there for approx 5 mins when i started to get real achey period pains again so i ignored it thinking it was nothing but then i started to get BH but a little more intense..i ignored them to start off thinking it was just random but they kept coming pretty regularly so i counted how long they lasted and they were approx 45 secs long and around 3-5 mins apart and that was all night long..so here i am thinking oh wow maybe it will keep going through the day and ill end up at the hospital sometime tonight....but fast forward to the morning and nothing not a bloody thing!!!

I am 41 weeks on tuesday and am really trying to avoid being induced...do you think that i am going to have this baby soon or is it all a ploy to drive me crazy??

Plus i also wanted to know...Alan maybe you will know a bit more about this...

When i first went to the doctor to get the official pregnancy stamp lol he gave me an EDD of the 23rd june but i was sent for a dating scan as i had some heavy bleeding a day after i did a preg test and they adjusted it to the 19th june do you think its possible that the doctor was more acurate or would the ultrasound be??

Oh, so sorry to hear that nothing come of last nights actions.. I'm curious to know what Alan reckons about your EDD, I'm in a similiar boat, but a little bit different. Good luck tonight and tomorrow and the day after, hopefully you'll be a mummy before the weekend is out.

thanks ladies...i am being very impatient only becasue DS came a week early and i didnt have the anticiaption of the due date coming and then the frustration of seeing it go again lol

I want to meet my little girl asap and she just isnt co-operating...i guess when i think about it babies very rarely do, do they lol

My DD was born 11 days after her EDD, though i was the same, few days adjustment on the scan/last AF so no idea when she was really "due". As far as i'm aware both the scan EDD and the last-AF EDD are only "correct" to within 14 days, sorry, no help i know but hang in there, your little one obviously feels she needs a little more cookin'

I had the niggles, cramps, tightenings etc. for only a few days before DD came and my clinical labour was under 4 hours - even if it doesn't feel like it, every little thing helps prepare your body.

Hope it is fast and easy and SOON for you.

    B
