    Blood Pressure..

Does anyone know how blood pressure can change so dramatically in 5 minutes?

My BP has been up and down the whole pregnancy and have been diagnosed with Pregnancy Induced Hypertension and have been on medication for it (stopped taking them now - as my BP dropped to 110/60)

    My BP was 160/90
    5 mins later
    My BP was 170/98
    5 mins later
    My BP was 148/77
    5 Mins later
    My BP was 156/85

I was put into hospital overnight for monitoring as bubs heartbeat was going up to 180+ while I was having "tightenings" and my vision was very blurry and I was extremely dizzy and disorientated.

I was discharged 24hrs later with BP of 136/70 and tightenings had lessen and bubs heart rate was back between 130-160

Just wondering if anyone has gone through the same thing or knows anything a bit more about blood pressure... I will be asking my GP on monday at my appt.. just thought id see if anyone on here could help in the meantime

    Thanks!!

What were you doing when you took the readings? There are a lot of things that can affect your bp.

I was laying on a hospital triage bed getting a CTG and listening to my gorgeous baby boys heart beat

    thats for the 160/90, 170/98 and 148/77

the 156/85 was once i was transfered to the ward after being admitted.

the 136/70 was when i had been basically in bed for 24hrs (only to get up to go to bathroom)

hmmm im not too sure seeming u were pretty much laying there.. i didnt think it would change that much in 5 mins.

im hoping you get some answers on monday but if its going abit mental would they have to induce you?

My blood pressure has been up and down like this for months now.. which is why i am in and out of hospital all the time

Thing is... Of course my BP is going to calm down after basically being confined to a bed while in hospital.

My GP was a little shocked that they didnt induce me the other day seeings im so close to my due date. I'd rather let my body do it on my own anyway... Whatever is best for bub

Bianca have you tried some natural induction methods? They won't work unless bub is ready to come (believe me I was trying from 37 weeks, nothing til 39.4), but given your blood pressure issues etc, and the chances of them articifically inducing you anyway it might be worth doing some reading and looking into it.

Have a look into reflexology, accupressure, nipple stimulation, sex

    Not too long now.
