    growth scan

    Hi

I had my 3rd growth scan today my and our little bubba is sitting on the 17% range. (it is between 10%and 90%) 1040gs
Just wondering what other bubba's out there are weighing and sitting on the % chart ??

The drs said I shouldn't be worried it is just a small baby.

    Thanks Rachel

    Hi Rachel,

With DS I had to have two growth scans at around 36 and 38 weeks (bub was measuring approx two weeks "behind"). Can't recall the actual percentiles, but he was classed as "below average" in most measurements. He was born perfectly healthy between 39-40wks at 2.9kg ... he had a little jaundice in the first few days but otherwise stacked on weight at an enormous rate. At 20 months he's currently "average" in all measurements.
(This bub I'm now carrying is entirely "average" at a scan - 35w4d - conducted yesterday.)

I agree with your dr - don't worry, maybe just have a few 0000 handy after your bub is born! My DS was in 0000 for approx 6-8 weeks.

    All the best, Andie

Mummytogirls when I had a scan for other reasons at 32weeks I wasn't given a percentile range but an estimated weight of 1.9kilos. My DD arrived 27days later weighing 3.5kilos. As a midwife I wouldn't be concerned about your results. I would say they are very much in the normal range for 28weeks gestation. If your concerned or want some more reassurance ask for a repeat in another few weeks just to be sure bub is having good growth in comparison to this scan. A lady I nursed a few weeks ago had a scan for size and come back at 3.5kilos. Bub arrived a few days later weight 5.4kilos (way way off) what I mean is although some are spot on for estimating size alot are way off and they are not always a reliable indicator.

I will be back for another scan in 1 month. I think the only time I feel worried is when I see other women's big belly's and mine is on the small side. I was small in my first pregnancy but back then I never had a growth scan and certainly didn't really worry much.

Thanks for your help girls. It is always nice to have reassurance.

i had a growt scan at 32 weeks. They said DD was abou 1.8 kgs (4pd ish) and she was born @ 38 weeks, almost 8 pound.

Dont rely on what they say too much. It looks like your bub is in a normal range to me and doing great

Where as my little ompa lompa has dated a head of dates on all scans and i have another one on saturday i will ask for a weight gestimate then but i think i will be scared...

also another site i use for weekly updates says that at 28 weeks bub should eb (i had to convert from inches and pounds) 40 cm (thats head to toe!) 1.08888888 kg
