hi girls, i experienced this morning at 2.50am that i was starting to get stitch type pain below my tummy just above my vagina and all across my tummy... it was sought of a type of pain that was off and on, could this have been a contraction or just stretching of everything down there, it scared me a bit but when i woke up i feel not too bad... bubba is fine moving and stuff. just not sure what it could be i have been having it off and on for about 3 days now..... anyone experienced this im 36 weeks tomorrow
I wouldn't describe my discomfort as a stitch. Mine is more like heavy pressure in the pubic area and also period like pain. I am under the impression that a contraction will feel like Braxton Hicks (being the tightness all over) as well as pain that can be similar to period pain. But this is my first time so I am not sure either. I can't wait to see my Obs next week and quiz him on this.
Hi Rosa, I'm no expert, but it sounds like things are really stretching, like you thought. Maybe your muscles are complaining and you are getting some cramping too?
I think you would likely feel a contraction over your entire tummy, IYKWIM, where it kind of starts down low and then you feel it all the way up to the top of your uterus.
I never experienced Braxton Hicks so I've no idea of what they feel like...
Good luck! Not long to go now
It's hard to say what it is but I just wanted to point out that contractions don't always go all over your abdo. Mine were really low down - across the front just above my pubic bone.
Hi Rosa, did you notice if your tummy felt tight at the same time? I have been getting lots of Braxton hicks, and in the last week or so, the sensation has included a stitch like pain in my lower abdomen. Almost like a pulling upwards, accompanied with a tight tummy and a real surge of adrenaline (it takes my breath away a bit).
I also had some REALLY bad cramping pains last week, which my midwife think were just stretching pains.
I know this isn't actually an answer, but I hope you feel a bit re-assured that your body is doing exactly what it needs to be doing to prepare for labour.
If you're worried, its always worth calling your careprovider.
I too and 36 NOW 37 weeks tomorrow and experience the same thing with no change in dialation, and 90% effaced. I think my little bundle of "JOY" is pressing so much on my intestines and muscles that it hurts....I'm getting the pressure and all as well down there. She is moving around much and well what helps if I lie down and allow her to move....it seems to get better. If not always call doc see if he wants to evaluate you. Better safe than sorry.
