is it possible to go into labour if i havnt lost my mucus plug?

got really bad period pains on and off. Pain stays in my back and then hits my tummy for about 30 seconds and then goes back into my back just aching. Hope this makes sense. I feel sick. And then it goes again. Been doing it for about 1 and a half hours nearlly 2. I havnt lost my plug yet though. Could i still go into labour?

I can only speak from my own experience. With all four of my babies I never had the typical loss of the mucus plug. Some women have a lot of blood/mucus, some have a little. I never really had any to speak of. Hmmm, maybe it came a bit later when I was too far into it to notice.

I didn't lose mine with DS til way into the labour. I was waiting for some sort of change in cm to let me know what was going on, but nothing.

I never even saw mine!!! Never saw it come out so I'm guessing it fell out when my waters broke.

Oh, and I never had any change in any discharge either - hence why I thought it was just prelabour.

    Good luck

Yeah, I never had a show. With DS1 my waters were broken at hossy, and with DS2 I remember the mw telling me I'd had my show with the contraction that made me start wanting to push, after I was fully dilated.

    Best of luck hun

Sure is hun, happened to me 11 weeks ago today! Water broke at 6:25am, never saw a mucous plug and was holding DD by 1:58pm.
Wishing you all the best and hope that you are holding your little treasure super soon

    Sounds like your getting close

yep some people never see their plug, others get it coming away for weeks before birth. oh and i think it can grow back too if you loose it early.

I remember getting some very serious Braxton Hicks contractions with DD no 1, never got to see the mucas plug my waters broke first. Same thing with DS, DD saw the plug about 1 week before she decided to show and little DD waters trickled and did'nt see the plug, I guess I seen a little bit before the waters really burst, about 90mins later.
Good luck it makes life very exciting.
