OOhhhh I just realised I can now use the overdue thread!! ;)

hmmm 5 days over and hoping that it won't be more than 6... though getting to 41 weeks does have an allure


have had a show today and had regular cramping for over 12 hours.... only really had a few that were even close to hurty though.

I'm hoping that all this pre-labour will be working magic on the cervix and that the actual labour will be short and sweet!


have a genetic history of short labours. Mum's longest was me (i was first) and it was only a few hours.

both grandmothers also had short labours.

anyway - having some spicy indian for dinner...hoping that helps the process.


hmmm I should recruit a few more of the other Jan overdues in here.

Hey Laura..good to see you :)

I am the first January BB recruit lol.

I am now 6 days over and getting a little anxious.

I am attempting VBAC and really need to avoid induction for the process to have a greater chance of success. I am also dealing with ppl around me who are adamant a vbac cant be done and I WILL end up with a c/s. Great huh!!

I know 6 days isnt too bad or anything to worry too much about but I found out today my cervix is still high and back a bit and when I had a stretch and sweep today it was not very successful. He could barely get in there. Said he stretched a bit but that was all he could do. Hope it was enough to get things slightly moving anyway. Will probably need to have another one done on Wednesday at my next middy appt.

My BB Laura will be MIA tomorrow me thinks! Seriously Laura I think you will be in full labour by tomorrow. If not I will be shocked!

I hope I wont be too far behind you!

I have been bouncing gently on a fit ball and also rocking side to side and doing circular pelvic motions...to help things come down a bit and to help open things.

Goodness knows I have tried everything else and nothing has worked.

Oh well..anyone else want to join us here?????

My due date is today (16th Jan) \:D/ but no signs as yet! And today I noticed that I have some stretch marks on my stomach :( Oh well I suppose a small price to pay for having a special new person in our lives. I am hoping that I'm not going to be too overdue as I am so bored waiting for the little one to arrive. It is our first and I finished up work a month ago. My Obstetrician suggested plenty of HOT SEX, HOT BATHS & HOT CURRIES. I've tried the latter two!!

Go the sex route Heljam.... it could be fun.

IM HERE BRUKY! Ok, so im due today... not technically "overdue".. but im here!

I have an obs appointment in the morning (13th), so i will post how that went here, and in the Feb thread. Last Thursday (9th Feb), i had an appointment. CTG showed everything to be fine, Ultrasound (my last one :( ) also showed everything to be fine (placenta ok, baby ok, fluid ok....). Which is great news. But with the internal nothing had changed from 2 weeks ago apparently.

On the weekend Dh and i DTD, went for a looooooooong walk and ive been trying to keep myself very busy (today i even cleaned the windows!! shock horror! :shock: )

How are you going Bruky? Im sure Sorka was due on the 12th, i hope she joins us (if not already with baby of course!!).

I've never made it to overdue but can imagine how impatient you guys must be getting to meet your little ones.

great news. Just got back from my appointment. I had a CTG, no contractions (although, i am getting some at home.... and sometimes they hurt)... baby heartbeat nice and steady. During my internal Doc says "no, nothing... oh! hang on (*smiles), cervix open a little bit, 1cm!" She said that it is short, and then she checked my, um, waters... No idea how that works.. but she used this silver long thing and a microscope (i think, i didnt want to look, was too afraid it would hurt), and said that my waters are clear. So thats great. Said the only thing missing is the contractions!!

Kinda scary. Obs told me to take this oil stuff (dunno what exactly, she told Dh), and a nice warn bath (but only when Dh is there), and it should get things moving. Soooo.... Im guessing the Bd'ing and long walk helped!

Well, i think thats pretty impressive... especially since its my Due date! Still hoping for a Valentines baby.

OK, i just translated what that "oil stuff" was... and found out that the doctor meant Castor Oil. hmmm, i dont know whether to try it, or just wait and see what happens! Ive read conflicting opinions... oh now im confused. Doc says i should be fine... And she has kept a very close eye on me these past 9 (or 10) months.

Apparently Germans are all about the Oil. MIL told me that she used it with Dh 2 weeks before her EDD (21 years ago)... and had an awful time with the runs... however apparently it worked with her.

Oh i dont know. Does anyone have any suggestions?

lol Katie...I'm not game with the castor oil...would be interesting to hear if anyone else has used it...I know its been used for years to bring on labour but YUKKO and then YUKKO if ya get the runs through labour....lol

Katie - a midwife at my hospital was saying yesterday that it does bring on the runs and can often have you with the runs during labour!

Guys I was just having a squizz on the main page & found this article here with some tips about how to maybe help labour get started. HTH someone even just a little bit

:-k I think i will wait 8-[ I really dont want to have the runs whilst in labour if i can avoid it! I'll try to be patient.

I have another Obs appointment tomorrow morning, hopefully i wont need to go, but im feeling fine at the moment.

Another thing with the caster oil is that it can make the baby pass meconium, so i wouldn't be trying it.

My guess is Friday.

Had another appointment today. Obs said that she will book me into the hospital to be induced 10 days after my due date. So that would be, Thursday the 23rd Feb. But she said that most likely i wont last that long, as most women she has seen in my case dont need to be induced. Hopefully i fit into that "most women" group.

Internal, nothing had really changed since Monday and she checked my fluid again, and its still clear. So I have made another appoinment for Friday morning.

So now im 2 days past EDD. Oh, and Mbear was due today (15th), and Apple is due tomorrow (16th). Hope they join us, actually, i should say i hope they dont need to join us!

Well, I am now officially overdue, well the baby is anyway.
Appt on Monday with my OB, which I am looking forward to... he will book me in for an induction, and I am going to ask him about accupuncture to bring this baby on, as I think he has someone he recommends.
Would like to avoid an induction as much as possible!!

So is it me, Katie and Mbear in here now?

Bruky had a baby girl this afternoon! Katie Jayne born at 3.37pm, super fast labour, no drugs, no tearing, baby weighed 8lb 9oz and both Mum and bub are doing well.

I, on the other hand, am still waiting. I tried the Castor Oil last night, it didnt work (obviously!). I had an appointment this morning, CTG was fine, no contractions. Ultrasound showed Ben to be fine, the placenta is aging (as it does when you are over). But thats normal. Everything else is ok.

I have to have a CTG on Sunday at the local Gyno (not my Gyno), who does after hours. Then I have to go to the hospital on Monday to be put on a drip, to start contractions. My Obs said that i might be told to go home, or they might want me to stay, depending on how Ben reacts to the contractions.

IF i go home, then i have to return on Tuesday to my Obs... and then will be booked into the hospital on Thursday to be properly induced. On Thursday i will be 10 days overdue.

This is all so scary for me. I somehow feel like Ive failed. I KNOW its normal to go overdue... But i just hate being in this position, waiting waiting waiting. All these medical things are happening, and i feel like i have no control over anything. Im so glad i have done my reading, and researched everything... But being in a country where i feel lost and confused half the time just doubles my anxiety. Its just awful not being able to understand 100% of what is said to me.

Well, enough of that. How are you other ladies going? Or have you left me all alone in the world of "over 40's?"

Katie - it does all sound very drawn out, but I suppose they want to give you the best chance of going into labour naturally rather than inducing??

I'm still here with you... I actually don't 'feel' overdue, but am ready to have this baby!

I dont feel "overdue" either. Its kinda hard or me to realise that i will be having this child in the next 5 or 4 days! wow. And that next weekend i will most likely definately have my baby boy in my arms. Scary thought. But exciting of course!

Apple, how is your dh handling the whole overdue wife thing? I love the extra attention i get from my dh! i think he is freaking out a little bit, but arent we all?

Hubby is doing ok, though if I mention anything about a niggle I feel, he looks a little worried!

Well Katie, Snowy and I are off for inductions with the next 5-8 hours (me at 5pm Melb time, and Katie and Snowy at 8am Germany time!)

Well looks like I will be joining this thread if today is not the day. I have a really big feeling that I will be here for a few more days though. I am sure there are others out there that are overdue. Fingers crossed I go before next Tuesday as I think that is when they will induce me.

Any way have my drs appoint this arvo and will fill in later.

No such luck, She is giving me till Friday week to go on my own so that is something. Although Friday seems such a longway off. I hope it doesn't take me that long. She did an internal and said nothing whatsoever is happening. How depressing. Although I did ask what time frame can things change and she did say that with #3 it could change overnight. That gave me a little hope.

So no one else is over due?? Must check the April thread front page and see. Thanks girls for looking in on me

you are so encouraging. Nothing happening again today although the phone calls have started. They are being supportive and all but I didn't think there would be so many. Oh well

Now dh is off till Tues it would be great for the little one to show it's face.

I had heard how bad the calls could get but have always been induced on due date to not get them. I was finding today that when the a/m picked it up people automaticaly usumed I was in hospital. Anyway, I am not the first or last to go through it.

Well, I'm officially overdue and wish something would happen, Doc visit yesterday and he told me that things aren't looking likely for a while. My cervix is currently firmly closed :fuming: and we know our dates are solid!
DH is being fantastic and MIL has decided it is her mission to occupy my time (thank God!) but still hate the thought of waiting any longer. THe doc has booked us in for induction Thursday next week and I'm terrified so we are going to try acupuncture before then. Any advice anyone?
We just want to meet our baby.
