Pre-labour or just plain old BH's?

For the past 3 days I've been having bh's every 8 minutes for an hour then about 3 hours of nothing then the whole process starts again is this pre-labour or just BHs? If it is pre-labour apparently this happens for weeks but its driving me insane i'm so damn uncomfortable and some of them are so strong they take my breath away. Also is it normal for pre-labour to start this early?

Sorry, I have no idea whether it's pre-labour or not. Don't worry too much. Remember anything from 36 weeks onwards is considered term, so your little one will be fine. Try to relax and go with the flow... easier said than done I know. Hopefully someone who is more from the expert side of things will be along to tell you more soon.

Hun, I'm almost certain it's good ol' BH. Mine have been pretty regular, sometimes 3 minutes apart for half an hour, then 10 minutes apart for an hour, and then nothing until the next day. I tend to get mine in the afternoons. I've read on the net that BH are actually very good for bub and the actual labour. It helps bub to stay toned and the uterus as well, in tip top shape. It also said that unless the BH get more intense, ie they get worse over the course of the day and they don't go away, it's probably the real contractions. But I think you're all good, sounds like what is happening to me.

I had BH from early on 30 weeks or less, tghey got stronger as the weeks went on..

it could be pre labour or it could be your body getting ready for everything with lots of BH, for weeks iv had strong period like pain,BH contractions, the runs ..everything ..its been going on for weeks now and getting very strong, and it could still go on for weeks for me agghh

dont worry about it i believe or so iv heard the more your body prepares before hand the better easier your labour will be, i pray this is true heheheh

so even if it is labour it will be ok , if you are worried call ur OB or MW or hossie just to check they may want u to go in and get checked or may not - do what ever makes u feel comfortable and more relaxed

opps there goes another BH now , i agree its annoying and it hurts and its frustrating not knowing if its the real thing or now, but just try and work with your body ,its doing what it needs to do to get ready for the big event , which is great!

Re: Pre-labour or just plain old BH's?

I had something similar for about a week before I went into labour- one evening it went on so long and was taking my breath away a couple of times so I called the labour ward. They said it could easily be either, to just take it easy and relax - if it is the real thing you will need all your energy soon. It turned out to be pre-labour, but a few days later, when I actually did go into labour if it hadn't have been for my waters breaking I wouldn't have been sure for the first couple of hours. But as they had told me when I called, when it was the real deal it intensified over time and I was in no doubt it was real labour.

Good luck, just relax and enjoy it
