Pregnancy Symptoms in the Third Trimester

So far in T3 I've had:

Swollen Fingers
Higher Blood Pressure (but still very normal)
Can't walk long distances
Reflux/very slight nausea
Back Pain/starting the return of Sciatica
Tiredness
Insomnia
Nasal congestion (but it is winter - probably just a cold)
Memory Loss
Colostrum

Also I'm very easily distracted by the kicking baby and am seriously peed off about "not looking pregnant" (yup, the hormones are back in force)! I can still lie comfortably on my back, although I try to avoid that, and can lie on my tummy too when I have to. All this by 30w!

I've had really sore knuckles for the last 10 days or so, almost arthritic. My naturopath thinks it could be that my organs are not keeping up with filtering stuff from both me and DS at this late stage and so deposits are being left in joints. She thinks it will disappear when he's born.

Varicose veins for me *doh*
Tiredness
Reflux
Muscle pain under my tum
Less acne (Yay)

Actually I mostly feel less tired and better than throughout the whole rest of the pregnancy. *touch wood* LOL

RYN: When you say you get nasal congestion. Do you get build up of mucus in the nose that feels like going down back of throat and your hocking up.

I've had this too. I thought it was bubs hiccoughing.

My worst symptoms would be:

* constipation
* haemmorroids
* reflux/heartburn
* exhaustion
* insomnia
* very emotional
* upper back pain
* "Tightness" in pelvic area when standing.

The back pain's weird, as my boobs are still quite sore (I used to be an F-cup before my reduction, and now my boobs are DD - my back's as sore as it was during the F-cup days!)

HI, i'm just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I think it's like gas bubbles in my chest, it's kind of like gurgelling or fluttering in my chest and then i tend to burp alot. It starts from my stomach and goes through my ribs and chest it's a wierd feeling. I've never had it before so i assume it's from being pregnant....does anyone know what i'm talking about?

Could it be heartburn?

Hi, I'm about a week of the 3T, but I had that bubbling and gurgling feeling just the other day. I think it is an excessive amount of gas, because I was quite ill, and sorry tmi, but had action at both ends and was very gassy, and had a lot of trouble eating. I also felt very stretched and tight like my tummy was full of gas and pushing my uterus out.

I've been very tired but I'm also having trouble sleeping (that's annoying). I'm experiencing shortness of breath and pelvic pressure. I'm also a little congested and have started snoring. They're really my only symptoms though. I feel I've been quite lucky.

Let me see now, where to begin!! I have had most of those on the list with all 3 pregnancies.... LOL. Guess I am normal after all....:lol: With this preg I found that I didn't have the Hyper Emmesis(severe vomitting & hospitilisation) was lucky enough to just get the morning sickness - if you can be lucky to get it.. hehe. I had also in the first few weeks with this one swollen hands, face, feet and tiredness -- extreme tiredness. Maybe the gestational diabetes had something to do with that part. Had it with this and last preg. (GD). This one I couldn't sleep in my bed had to sit up and sleep due to pelvic pain and pins & needles. So my lounge see's more of me at night that my bed...lol. Breasts were tender in the early days also. Oh and colostasis with this and last preg. Itchy skin drives me mad... Oh well I guess not long now and I won't have to complain much more.... Its all worth it in the end when you get to look at the little round face that causes so much for nine months....LOL :lol: Enjoy it I say. Safe deliveries girls ;)

I get heartburn, a little bit of nausea, restless everything at any time of the day, pins and needles, what feels like could be carpal tunnel, and just recently, the feeling like i can't breathe, or breathe deep enough when I'm lying on my leftside - its so scary, so I roll over and seems to work... Also the feeling of claustrophobia. I also feel like I'm more fat than pregnant and think that ppl can't notice this basketball size belly as housing a baby and see me as a heavily overweight woman :( (and maybe a little bit of low self esteem happening there)

This thread is marvellous- finally, some people to sympathise!

shortness of breath ("pregnancy induced asthma", and no, I'd never heard of that either)
trouble with continence, esp after sneezing/laughing/coughing. Pelvic floor exercises, shmelvic floor exercises
very very frequent toilet visits.
insomnia. I hate insomnia
itchy nipples! WTF?!? What's going on there?
a tiny bit of reflux, but not much
Oh, and burping. v. embarrassing
I feel smellier than normal. :( probably tmi...
constipation, although a lot of that is due to my iron supplements, and since I bought prunes it seems to have gone. :)
Trouble sitting, as the baby seems to resent that and will kick me until I get up. This leads to sore feet, as I have to stand/walk around till he/she stops it.

Right, my turn to add to this since today is my due date and I'm fed up with being in the third trimester! Does that make me in the fourth trimester tomorrow???

indigestion so bad I've had to take Ranitidine for 2 months and still get it
can't pee properly as half way through bubs squishes everything shut and gives me shooting pain, have to sit there for 5 mins to finish
pitting oedema in my shins which doesn't go down with rest or elevation or at night
sleeping in 2-3 hr blocks due to going to the loo so often - now sooooo tired
restless legs due to the swelling which means I can't get comfy at night and have been eating panadol every night for a week to get any sleep

Can you tell I'm fed up?????

So relieved to read that others are going through the same things, but also feel for you all too. No wonder we get a bit nuts.

I think in the first trimester I felt crap every single day, the second trimester it was days of good and then days of bad, and now in the third trimester there are almost alternate weeks of opposing physical sensations- for days on end I can feel capable of running a marathon and have moved large pieces of furniture around the house (and back to their original position of course!) - - and then a week later and it's like being back in the first trimester -- trying to hide all-day yawning behind my computer is getting really hard at work and coffee doesn't seem to work on this kind of tiredness. Only 5 more work weeks to go ...yay! :clap: and then 4 weeks of lovely rest (I hope) before I really get to know what true sleep deprivation is when baby arrives.

Had a freaky baby limb stretch waaaay out of my belly this morning which reminded me of a hatching scene from the Alien film. :lol: If anyone has seen the program 'Coupling' [sort of a UK version of Friends] you'll know what I mean about the pregnancy/Alien reference.

For about a week now I've had ringing in my ears. At first I was blaming the freezer in my house as I could only hear it when I got home, but now I can hear it at work when the office is quiet. We don't have a freezer in the office so it's definitely me. :-(

I've found some info about a small percentage of pregnant women experiencing it. Has anyone else had it? Did it go away or get worse?

I think I'll put up with it until after the birth and if it's still there afterwards get it checked out. ;-)

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who can't sleep for more than 1hr at night. I hate the fact that I lie on my left and my leg and arm cramps then I try to turn without being in pain. At night I think is when the worst of being pregnant happens. Thank God there is a beautiful present at the end of all this pain and discomfort. I wonder if men were pregnant they would cope as good as us women do. If you are pregnant with your first child or are already a mother I reckon we all deserve a medal. If you don't get praised for what you do praise yourself because you deserve it.

Baby due today

Hi everyone, I'm 32 weeks
My biggie is varicose veins.....started off in my first pregnancy but this time they are really bad, they throb when I am not wearing my special support hose.
Also incontinence (although Kegels are helping), snoring due to nasal congestion at night, farting, bit of indigestion.
Can't walk very far....I started off 55kg and last time I checked I was already 71kg....and all the weight is only on my belly....
the good thing is my skin is really soft and I look pretty healthy even on little sleep ( I have a toddler)

Wow when you list them down there are so many things i am suffering and i thought i was just paronoid LOL

I have all but 5 of those listed but also have very RED palms... they don't itch or anything just very red , haha looks like i've been holding a handful of jaffas.

I am getting achy hips in the middle of the night/morning. So much so it is better to get up and then it seems to go. I feel like an old lady. Also itchy belly at times, hungry, thirsty, agitated with small things etc

ok, at the moment i have 5 more slow crippling weeks left. and i've read what everyone else has had and or still got.
here's my list:
Swollen hands and feet ( doesnt matter what time of the day it is).
Crusty nipples (i know its gross but it only happens occasionally)
Calf cramps (ouch:cry:)
Stretch marks
Tiredness AND Insomnia
The usual Cravings
Heartburn
Lightheadedness
ALWAYS needing to pee
Nasal congestion
Itchy boobs
Incredible thirst.

and i think thats about it. dont get me wrong i love being pregnant, but ...

oh, and constant moodiness.

The one that's bugged me most has been nasal congestion...I love my food and when you can't taste it because you have to breathe and chew at the same time...it's not cool.

I'm getting achey around the hips and have started feeling mild bouts of nausea on the very odd occasion.

Hehehe, my turn for a little whinge.. always makes you feel better for a bit. I have sometimes or always:
Swollen Hands + Swollen Feet sometimes ankles and calves too!
Indigestion
Not being able to lay on back. Get that weird dizzy feeling if I do.
Crusty Nipples. What is with that? Is it small amount of colostrum or is it extra body grease?
Can't walk long distances
Reflux to the point of surprise mini spews. Nice!
Sore Hips
Strech Marks
Back Pain up near my shoulders. I think its from having humungus boobs. lol
Round ligament pains (esp after resting) getting up in the morning is no fun anymore.
Tiredness like I have only ever felt in the first trimester. Total fatige
Heartburn
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is far worse than usual.
Nasal congestion
Bleeding Gums
Memory Loss
Lower abdominal cramps mainly from incredible gas.

Wow, I didnt realise that I had so many!!! No wonder I am cranky sometimes. I think I should add emotional and moody to the list too. DH will aggree with that one!
I am not coping too bad with it all though but am still looking forward to the end!!!

hahaha.. I love to complain at times.. But too be honest .. I had not really taken note of all the symptoms till I just read through all those lists. And found to have "enjoyed" a few myself. The sore hips of a night and into the morning are sure getting to me. With the Christmas shopping to do... AND IM USUALLY A SHOPPAHOLIC!! I cant do more than 2 hours before needing a GOOD break OFF my feet. SO SAD. Heartburn after every bite of food sure is a downer after a good meal out. The toilet and I have gotten to know each other soooo well that my friends are jealous.. hehe! But all in all.. im actually worried about how im going to deal with not being pregnant anymore.. not feeling those KICK in the ribs ect. HAHA

lol tascha, not having the usual stamina for shopping now will put you in good training for when your bub arrives, they prefer not to shop. I almost always forget something every time I shop now because ds turns into senior cranky pants when we walk into shops.

Current symptoms: constant sore tight belly to the side of my belly button, dry skin, itchy legs, less physically agile, weight gain, sometimes a sore ****sicks, excess wetness down there...

I have also had a pain on my left side. My OB told me it could be the ligaments stretching.

It's obviously a common problem, so I am going to stop worrying about it too much I think.

I have recently noticed lots of freckles on my neck and some mole/skin changes... I am going to relate them to the pregnancy, but if they are still weirding me out a few months after the birth I think I'll go get them checked out. I have olive skin, so don't have much problem with freckles usually, but on my mums side skin cancer is a bit of a problem!

I think my main symptom of the 3rd tri is impatience/eagerness to meet my baby for the first time! Its all I think about, and cant concentrate on other (seemingly) insignificant distractions! :lol:

I'm 34 weeks and carrying twins.
I'm just really, really, really uncomfortable with arms and legs sticking out everywhere day and night.:D

Has anyone mentioned the snoring.... My DH tells me that i have got really bad :)

I have the same! Really bad heart burn, nothing works to stop it & nausea again.... I have 5 weeks left but I am not sure if i'll make it. LOL. I am also having sleeping probs. I think my hips are getting sore from the extra weight & they ache when I am sleeping.

I hear you about the sleeping liss_jay.

It takes me about 10 mins to get out of bed everytime I need to go to the loo (5 times a night ;) ) Its just so painful, my hips and pelvis ache something shocking! Its been like this for about 2 months now, but its gotten to the point where Im pretty much on bed rest! I think I might have that SPD ( Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction) oh well lets just hope im in the %5 of women who go into labor on their due date :p

My hair changes colour!!!

Happened with DS in the 3rd tri too. I am naturally a dark blonde, but in my 3rd tri my hair turns dark brown like REALLY dark, but only on my head, eye brows and underarms. My leg hair is still super blonde so you cannot see it. From memory DS was at least 3 months old before my hair went back to it's normal colour.

Nasty calf cramps in the middle of the night!!!:rolleyes: They are so excruciating and my leg just locks up with toes pointed, that i have to try to stand up and pull toes back. As a consequence of this, my calves feels like I have pulled muscles.

Back ache, sore tight abdomen just to name a few.
