    Pubic bone pain

Hi - just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

I'm 36 + 1 wks and have been having dull, throbbing sort of pains in my actual pubic bone. I notice it more when I'm walking and it's annoying me. Is it just the baby getting ready?

I've also been getting really sharp, stabbing pains really low down there - I'm assuming it's just the baby again?

I'v got my 36wk appt on Thursday so will ask the Dr then but thought I'd ask on here first

I can't wait for this baby to arrive!!!!!!!!!

It is quite normal, but very painful, to have pelvic pain particularly in late pregnancy (sometimes known as SPD or Syphysis Pubis Dysfunction). Try to keep your knees together as much as possible (when getting in and out of bed, or the car) and sleep with a pillow between your knees to see if that helps.

As for walking, try to avoid walking up stairs or hills whenever you can and avoid taking long strides as these open up the pelvis and exasperate the pain. The good news is your pelvis is quite loose so whilst this causes pain, it can also help during labour.

When you are labouring try to avoid positions which have your knees wide apart (such as on your back with legs in stirrups) and if you can say no to the epidural as loss of feeling will stop you being able to tell when a labouring position is putting strain on your pelvis.

Hope you get some relief soon
