    Reduced Movements?

I don't know if I am being paranoid and hormonal or if I genuienly have a reduction in movements.

I'm 29 wk PG with no2, I can still feel baby move, but it more like those really early day movments of butterlfies. I had been getting quite strong movements a few weeks back where DH could feel the movment from the outside, but now it is more like a slight turn or scrape rather than a kick or a punch, plus the frequency of those movements feel decreased. I have been feeling like this for the past 3-4 days.

A couple of weeks back I had simialr thoughts and feelings, but then got a flurry of movement again for a about a week.

With DS1 I didn't have many sensations of movement, but I did have an anterior placenta which I think contibuted toward that. In addition I and had a threatened prem labour at 3wk2 and PROM at 33 wk and delivered at 34wk with DS1. Though this PG feels different, in reflection with DS1 my tummy felt extreamly tight and restriced from about 28 wk and was getting the odd tummy pain, where as I'm more confortable and not uncomfortable.

I guess, I don't know If I should get checked out? Also in the process of writing the post I have felt baby move several times, turning around and wiggling anyway.

I have been quite surprised at how much bubs movements change over the course of the pregnancy. If you are getting anxious, definately go get it checked out. I have found the health care professionals to be happy to check heart rate, to see that all is well. As you are getting movements now, it is probably fine and bub is just changing his/hear routine- or playing with you and keeping yuou on your toes.

    take care,

My MW has said that if I don't feel around 10movements in a day to give her a call and they'll check me out. She actually gave me a kick chart today to keep track of movements for a couple of days because I'd been feeling less.

If you're concerned, best to get it checked out IMO.

    Re: Reduced Movements?

When I was pg and felt less movement the ob told me to drink something cold and/or eat something sweet, then rest and wait for movement, which you should feel sometime in the next hour. It's amazing how much more you feel when you sit/lie down calmly He also told me 10 movements per day, and as soon as you reach the 10 stop counting (to stop worrying about it I think).

If you're worried, best to get it checked out to put your mind at rest, they're always happy to check either at the ob's office or you can call your labour ward too.

Thank you all for your replies. Prior to posting I had tried the cold sweet thing. Felt some movement on the way to the shops. I would have had 10 movments today, it is just they are not as strong as they have been. Maybe bubs has gone quiet to have agrowth spurt, DS1 would do go quiet for about 3 days then I would get more movement. This one goes quiet for longer periods, though moves more overall.

Bubby could have moved into a different position and thats why the movements seem to be softer. The fact that you are still feeling bubby regularly is a good sign, if you are still worried though try to get into see your GP this week just to check.
    Hope all goes well.

I've noticed that bubs movement changes too. He seems to be more wriggly and stretchy than 'kicky' lately, and goes through stages where he'll move lots over a few days and then is more settled, with just wiggles and shifting. Keeping a kick chart (I'd just put a tally mark when you notice a movement) sounds like a great idea, and stopping when you get to 10 so you don't worry too much!!

My Jellyman likes to trick me, sometimes he wil go a whole weekend with hardly any movements and as soon as i tell DH that i am worried about it, he will have a party in there, like hes doing the macarena!!!! Cheeky little monkey!!

As long as you can still feel movements occasionally, i wouldnt worry too much. And all movements count on a kick chart, including hiccups, which my little man gets everyday, and wriggly, stretchy, rolling movements.
