Severe sharp pain near my appenix

okay, had a little scare just now..
was down at coles getting some groceries, when i had a severe sharp pain on the left side of my abdomen, near my appendix...

It was that sharp that i dropped the shopping basket, and had to bend over in the fetal position, trying to relieve it...i thought it had gone, took a few steps, and it hit me again, it hit several times, and had me so worried, i was ready to run to the service desk for help...

what could this have been, it has gone now, however was very sharp and scary..

I don't know what it was, but if I were you I would maybe just call the hospital to see if it's anything to worry about. Especially if it happens again. I hope you're feeling better now

    Hi

Have had those sharp pains too - kinda like a stitch - and takes breath away.
But from what I've read believe that it is the ligaments stretching.

Think the particular ligaments being effected are called the round ligaments which are of course now taking up a growing weight each day. I've got them when walking or if I move quickly or sneeze/cough.

Mentioned it to a few friends who've had babies and they agreed that this is what it is/was. Don't think it is something to be concerned about unless was non stop.

If it were me, I'd get it checked straight away, especially being so severe - better safe than sorry.

    Hope all's good chicky

most people have their appendix on their right side.

Sounds like it might be ligament stretching. I had very similar pains that were agonising and felt like i was being stabbed every time i took a step. I would talk to your doctor about it just in case

Your appendix is on the right. When I had appendicitis I remember a lot of pain in the whole stomach area but it would localise to the right when I moved.

It could be a ligament or muscle strain but it's best to get it checked out. Doing stuff like lugging a shopping basket would do it. I strained my belly lugging a sleeping boy out of the car.
