Smile Bloody show and contraction question

    Hi Guys,

I was induced with my first, so I am not sure what to expect.

I had a bloody show tonight (brownish) after loosing plug all day. I've also had a few contractions throughout the day which caught me by surprise.

Does it sound as though this may happen within the next day or so or does this sound like a pre-labour thing that can go on for the next couple of weeks etc

    Thanks in advance

Sounds very promising hun. I would say it is more likely going to happen in the next day or so. How strong are the contractions? Are they coming regularly?
Sending strong labour vibes your way

I have always had my baby within hours of losing my mucus plug so hopefully it will be similar for you
Wishing you all the very best

    Thanks babe xxx

The contractions were enough to stop me in my tracks BUT very, very spaced out.

Then with that happening today, the bloody show this evening - I was more excited by that than the contrx.

Thank you for the great vibes - I'll let you know if this is it!!

OOoOOOOOoooOO!! Sounds promising!! Just don't do what I did and lie down all day...i would have had my son on the friday night if I'd stayed on my feet longer but I had read to lie down and rest, which actually slowed my contractions down..I ended up having my son very early sunday morning

My contrax with Anelise were really similar... no real pattern until transition. Like Linzy my contrax slowed down when I layed down and I didn't mind, but then my water broke and it was systems go from there on.
Try to get some rest. Tomorrow will most likely be a big day for you!

With both my boys I had a show several days before they came. If you can relax and just wait for nature to take its course. Babes come when they are ready too and yours sounds as though its on its way.

    Thanks ladies!

No more show since - isn't it funny how nature works differently with everyone? I am pretty happy to wait for this kidlet to do whatever she wants to do - but the niggles have me guessing.

Lisa I hope you are right and it is sometime today !!

I had pre labour for 3 days after mine! In my case, I wish I had rested as I was sooooo exhausted by the end of it and not getting any sleep.

Just follow your body as the others have said and try to have a job to do. If you keep moving and do something like baking or cleaning etc (I actually did a heap of work on the computer between contractions and wrapped & packed Christmas presents (DD was born 2 weeks before Christmas) which kept me really busy and helped the contractions establish themselves.

It sounds very exciting - I am very excited for you and will be watching the birth announcements in anticipation!!

    Woo Hoo!

Thanks girls - tonnes of pre-labour happening, no more show but lots of plug.

I see my midwife on Saturday - so I may ask her for an internal to see what's happening (more for my peace of mind).

I haven't had this much pre-labour until these last few days so I really feel that my body is gearing up to start it soon. One thing my midwife did say is with lots of pre-labour actual labour is pretty fast so fingers crossed !!

I promise to update as soon as my little miss is here

    Hi Mumma2to,

Things sound very promising and i'm very excitied for you! Don't forget if you get really curious you can do your own internal. Read the 'How far dilated are you?' thread in this section if you want to know more.

Plus it will help to kill some time and take your mind off whether this is it or not

    Good luck!

Interesting i know they do say to stay on your feet, but what if say you have contractions in the middle of the night OR u are so so tired, should u rest or try and stay active?

Shell, the way I see it is if you can rest - then do it!!

I'd rather have a bit of sleep and know that I have the energy for labour and life with a newborn vs staying active, wearing myself out and then getting the new baby adrenalin rush that happens which prevents you sleeping anyway!

It comes down to personal preference
