    sex at u/s wrong?

OK, feel a bit silly asking this, as by far the most important thing to me is that this baby is healthy, but its more out of interest then anything else.

ive had 2 growth scans and both times been told this bub is a girl, no doubt, would put money on it, 100% by 2 different sonographers. then when you tell people you start getting the stories... oh my cousin was told that and then it was a boy or visa versa.

im 37 weeks now, and in the last couple weeks ive gotten asked so many times if i am having a boy as i am carrying low or pointy or something, which of course has now made me think aw crap what if it is a boy!

is it just the pregnancy hormones acting up? should i disregard all the comments?

i havent gone overboard on the pink, but i did have a baby shower and everything bought was pink, so if it is a boy its going to have to like pink LOL

I would believe the professionals over people having a guess based on the myth of how you are carrying. You carry the baby the way your body carries it - has no indication of what gender you are carrying.

Everyone carries differently!!! I had ALL of DH's family, ALL of our staff and a heap of close family friends of the inlaws telling me I was definately having a boy due to the way I was carrying (with my 1st preg)... DH's aunty even said "I will fall off my chair backwards if its a girl"... I had people buying me boys clothes telling me I'd need them and others saying 'when HE'S born'... I was completely offended and didn't really feel that I had any other choice but to believe it. When I had DD I was soooo happy it was a girl... I felt as though I could act like a teenager and say 'In you face you're all dumb and so very wrong!'

Oldies in particular think they know everything in this world, but when it comes to babies, I find going the opposite to what they say will generally be the right answer!!!

So...... Don't listen to them, they have no idea! The pro's know what they're talking about!
Girls are great BTW!!! Good luck with the final stages of your preg!!!

    :yeahthat:
I was in the same boat last time around, everything was pink based on our scans but a lot of people said it looks like a boy based on how I was carrying, including my neighbour who had 'never been wrong before!' and my acupuncturist (who changed his mind the next week).
I told them all exactly what you did...if it's a boy he will look very pretty in pink for a while!
    She was a girl

There are always stories of "when they were wrong" - my sister has had her prediction changed from a boy to a girl during her pregnancy, we'll find out any day now - but odds are with you.

I worried about it heaps in the last few weeks, but really it's too late to do much about it now! Just relax & enjoy the last few weeks.
    Good luck

With my DD we were told she was going to be a girl and everyone thought thats what i was having.

This time round everything is different, morning sickness, how big i am, the way i am carrying.. everything.. even i had a feeling it's a boy but the sonographer says it's a girl.
All of our family were dumbfounded.. my BIL even said to my partner before we found out that he KNOWS it's a boy and he will tell us why later... lol
I was so glad just to shove it in his face they said it's a girl again.

Let's hope at the end of all this the guy was right otherwise our lil boy might just be in his big sisters clothes after all.... lol

totally agree....dont believe what people say when they say your carrying a certain way, i believed that, and it caused me more worry than good.

Believe what you see on the screen, and what the professionals tell you....believe me...theyre right lol

    congrats on ur girl xx

I've been worrying that the scan interpretations are wrong too. I've gone overboard on pink and if it's a boy, he'll just have to wear the pink stuff.
Luckily, in the Photoshop age, we can change the colours in photographs so his 21st won't be too embarrassing... if it comes to that.

The stories are always of a friend of a friend. I have not met anyone in real life who was given the incorrect gender by the sonographer. If they aren't certain they won't tell you. Telling people the wrong thing is a good way to get sued!
Everyone told me that DS2 was going to be a girl as I was a bit sicker, and my boobs didn't get big as early. It is all such rubbish! At least they all stopped after I had the scan.
    Don't worry.

my cousin was told the wrong gender. She was told Emma was a little boy when in fact Emma was a little lady. Must have had the cord between her legs but the crazy thing was she had three different scans done in later pregnancy that all said she was a boy.

That is the only case I actually know of and not just heard of, been told the wrong thing. I would take what the sonographer has told you as been right. The times it turns out to be wrong is far smaller than what they get right.

    Affraid not all the time

I was told by 2 different professions at 2 different u/s clinic's that I was having a girl. Even when we had the 4D one we were told girl....

I now have a 20 month old BOY. Yes the u/s were wrong all together, very single one of them. I lived on BB at the time of my pg so it was well know. I had to do room changes, take back all my brand new pink clothing EVERYTHING girly. I was devistated

FWIW I also carried the same as I did with my daughter but honestly...it makes no bloody differnece. I also had a strong gutt feeling I was carrying a boy and was continuously pulling the wee out of myself saying..it will come out a boy...mother knows best

Killng myself laughing at Nelle's comment!!

Anyway, my two kids were both correct by ultrasound.

This one is a boy, seen it in 3D at 17 wks and normal scan at 19 wks. I've brought blue clothes and I am buying blue furniture, thats how confident I am its a boy due to what I saw on scans and words/comments the Sonographers used, which I didn't think they were allowed to - 'without a doubt a boy' & 'definately a boy'.

I don't think anyone's mentioned this yet, but from what I can tell, it's easier to be sure about a boy than a girl. Because if you see a little penis then that's a bit of a giveaway, but if you can't get a good view, it could be that you just can't see it.
Which is why I guess I view a boy verdict a bit more confidently than I'd view a girl verdict.
