This is my third bub. I'm having a lot of trouble with this pregnancy and am not sure if I should worry and ring my Obs or not. I have an app tomorrow and figure I've waited this long. I had a c-sect with my first and a VBAC with my second. I had a cervical suture with my second and this pregnancy. I seem to have a lot of watery discharge and I find its worse when I'm sitting in the one position or standing for too long. I don't have a problem when I'm laying. I don't seem as big either and am worried I may have a leak?? Baby is still moving, I have been trying to monitor this. Do you reckon this could just be normal discharge or something to worry about
Watery discharge is very common, and you are likely to have more discharge when standing because of gravity. However if you are concerned then yes, call your OB or midwife. It's better to check and find out it is nothing, than ignore it and potentially be at risk.
Personally hun, I'd call your hospital now and ask to come in and have the discharge checked. If you put on a pad, they will be able to do a simple swab of the pad and tell you whether or not it is amniotic fluid.
I had a hind water leak, very similar to what you are describing. In my case I had so little fluid coming out, that the midwife on the phone was unsure if it was worth me coming in, but I insisted and it turned out to be right. It's definately something you want to get on top of asap, but also nothing to stress too much about if it does turn out to be a leak. They can repair themselves, but you will also need AB's to protect against infection.
Please give them a call now. If it doesn't turn out to be a leak then there is no harm done.
Thanks everyone for your responses I rang my ob who sent me to the hospital. Got checked out not entirely sure what's going on but they did say my stitch does have a funny discharge around it so all swabbed etc and they are scanning me today for my cervix length
Still waiting on swab results, cervix is fine so they are thinking just to do with stitch but they said glad they checked to make sure :-) now to address my iron levels...
I've actually just had this happen funny enough. I'm 37 weeks. On Tues night i was laying on the couch and it felt like i wee'd myself, however, i had no control over it and it didn't smell like wee. I rang my Mum for advice who told me to ring hospital. I was told it was probably just my hind waters but to pop a pad on, lay down for 30 mins, stand up and phone them back. I did that. Told them i had clear goop on my pad. Was told it sounds like mucus and not to worry. I kept losing more mucus on Wednesday and Thursday. By Thursday it was looking a tad orangey so i rang the hospital again just for advice and reassurance. I ended up popping in. I had bub's heart rate monitored and they did an internal swab to check if it was amniotic fluid i lost which it wasn't so i was sent home. I was told an increase in mucus is common around this time. Sometimes when i stand up it feels like the tiniest bit of wee is coming out of me but i am told this is all normal. My main reason for going to the hospital was to make sure the waters that broke weren't the real deal waters (which i didn't think they were coz i had my labour induced last year with my son as he was still born and i recall those waters being a massive gush). The midwife encouraged me to go back for a check up at the hospital if anything else changed or i became concerned again. I was really appreciative of the whole "we don't mind" attitude.
