    Thumbs down Sore Nipple -

This is abit embarassing, but, i am sure i am not the only one.
Only one, my left, nipple is sore. Like, it feels like someone is constantly pinching it. With my bra on, seems to be not so bad, but, no bra = pain. And to feel, it feels different to my right one. If i run my palm over my right one, it feels normal, but my left, other then the pain, also feels 'fake' or plastic like. To look at, they both look the same, and normal.
My question - this is probably normal right? But, is it some sort of sign, or thing to prepare myself for breast feeding? Should i be getting creams now, and putting that on, so i dont have any issues.
Can i ask my obs about it? Is that something that he can advise me on?

I'd ask the ob as well just for peace of mind.

Although, first time round my bb's got quite tender, the nipples quite sensitive but they don't sound like they got like yours. I did get some great advice from the girls in another thread re bf and they suggested doing the cream a month before bubby is due to get your nipples ready for your little babe.

Lansinoh was a life saviour for me and I'll be turning to that again this time!

Hope you feel comfy soon!! xx

    Hi mum2bee.

I had the same thing, but with my right one. Then it started to crack. I asked the midwife/lactation consul. at OB appointment and she suggested Lansinoh or Maracalan. I used maracalan and it was great. Apparently it is our bodies getting ready for breastfeeding. It was all cleared up within a week, and they are both the same as each other now.
Id ask him just in case there is something else wrong though.

Hi, can't say I have had any trouble with my "girls", but I do suggest mentioning it to the OB just to be sure. Could be something as simple as a blocked duct. Just to give yourself peace of mind its worth asking. I can also vouch for the cream Lansinoh. It is heaven sent! I used it with my last bub and also a nipple shield to help out so the nipples wouldn't be so sore. Good luck with yours.

    Hi Mum2bee
the cream is that hard as it is made from wool fat. (think of it as butter- the colder it is the harder it is and once the temperature increases it becomes softer IYKWIM!).
Once you get a little bit out of the tube, rub it between two fingers as it softens the cream and makes it easier to put on.
