    Any suggestions for relief?

    Hi all!

I've always been someone to sleep on my belly, so sleeping has been difficult since the early days of my pregnancy. However, for the past couple of months, my ribs have been hurting really terribly while i sleep and even panadol hasn't managed to put a dent in it.

Even got myself a body pillow that put a dent in my wallet now that I can't work F/T because of placenta previa, but even that hasn't seemed to help.

Anyone have any suggestions on how I might get some relief?

    Hi there,
I completly sympathise. I know what its like to be a tummy sleeper and pregnant... Gosh the first night after our princess was born wasnt the best night sleep but just to be able to lay on my tummy agian was bliss...

I used 2 curved pillows in like a square so my tummy was inside the square and i was actually laying on the pillows and not squishing my tummy as much... when we sot further along i would use them lay on my tummy but have 1 legbent to the side so i wasnt fully on my tummy... its hard to explain.

I suggest lots of pillow until you find what works. As for the ribs i got that aswell, i ended up with bruising. Have u seen a doc???

    Hi Jess,

Thanks for the tip, will definitely try that! Anything has to be better that status quo I think! lol!

Nope, haven't gone to see the doc yet... got an OB appt on Monday, so will tell him then.

Did you just keep taking Panadol for the pain?

I found that alternating heat and ice packs worked welll and yes panadol for the pain but again i would see the OB or GP.

Hope you find some comfort soon...

You need someone to massage your ribs all night long.

The only relief I get from rib pain is direct pressure. I get my husband to press his thumb hard against my aching rib and the pain vanishes. Then as soon as he stops, the pain comes back instantly.

I'm not a tummy sleeper, but I know rib pain all too well.

Get hubby to massage all night long? he'll surely love that!

i've tried heat packs, been suffering with the cold already so I think I'll give the ice packs a miss.

Will experiment with different pillows and get hubby to massage and see how that goes...

    Thanks heaps for the tips!
