    Question Swelling... of one foot?

    Yes I'm a freak (ain't I feebs.. hehe)

I had a massage today and now - I have one swollen foot. My other foot is fine, I can still see the veins sticking out nicely, so no swelling there, and my hands are fine as well.

    Just my right foot. Swollen.

I was on my tummy for the entire time of my massage, with a pillow under my belly filling the gap there, and one under my chest, filling the gap there, so there was absolutely no discomfort or anything with lying in that position. My hand did get pins and needles at one stage during the massage but I think thats cos she was getting stuck into my shoulders pretty well cos they were super tight.

So has this happened to anyone else? Or - am I a total freak!!???

If you're a freak, then I am also

I got a swollen left foot toward the end of my pregnancy with Anelise that lasted until she was almost 3 weeks old. It was actually more annoying than painful, the only pain came from my shoes digging in. My DH got me some Hirudoid cream from the chemist that reduced the size dramatically overnight and by the 2nd day of using it, the swelling went for good.

The Ob told me it was just extra fluid in my body caused by the pregnancy. I had never had any issues in my other pregnancies so I was a little worried. He told me it was nothing to worry about and it would go away after Bub was born. So after a few days after having Annie, and it was still there and I felt getting worse, the midwife told me it is a similar thing only it was now the fluid leaving my body but making its way to my extremities first... my fingers were swollen then too. I was told to put my feet up, to get it massaged, cool compress etc... none of it worked for me. After almost 3 weeks of dealing with it we remembered hirudoid cream helps with swelling, bruises etc and we got that which fixed it for me.
I hope the swelling eases for you soon.

How bizarre that it was just in one foot though!!! My foot looks a little better today - DH said it must have been the massage that moved some fluid to my foot or something.. lol... I think if there is any extra fluid roaming around I'd like it come through my bladder - I'm fat enough already!!!

Yep Mel I had it too! My acupuncturist told me it was because your uterus isn't sitting evenly and puts more pressure on one side than the other and can cause lopsided swelling.

    You're a FREAK

but you're in good company ...

The last few days the inner edge of my right ankle (just below the knuckle) I have been getting swelling to the point it looks like an egg. I have not been doing much either to justify the swelling.

I have been R.I C.E ing it daily or when I notice the swelling it helps as does sweeping massage of the swollen bit back towards the heart kwim??

Now tell me - am I the only freak who loves poking the swollen bit to see how long it takes for the dimple to go away??
