Question Swollen and sore joints - should i be worried?

The last couple of weeks my fluid retention has been pretty bad...

Now it's to the point where when I wake up in the morning my joints are so swollen and sore that I can barely make a fist and it hurts to do so and standing up actually hurts my feet after lying down all night.

I am also finding that the backs of my knees are painful.

I have a MW appt on Monday .... should i be worried or is this normal??

I am getting the back of the knees thing as well Dee, but not the joint pain.
Can you ring your midwife tomorrow and talkto them about it, they might have a suggestion that could help you in the meantime.
Mine said that I could use epom salts in the bath (1/3 cup at most) which would help, or lectric soda crystals (in the laundry aisle at the supermarket) - you leave them in the packet unopened and use as a compress to reduce the fluid retention.
But call them anyway to be safe, you neer know they may aske you to come in.

There are some inflammatory things which can flare up (or ironically, settle down) during pregnancy such as fibromyalgia. There is also a form of arthritis that can plague pregnant women. You definitely should have any joint pain and swelling investigated.
