All day weekend I felt my pelvis ache all the way into my tail bone. No way to avoid it other than a heat pack and some Panadol. I thought it would pass but towards yesterday afternoon I felt the need for a poo so sat there and it was very painful. A lot of pressure and ache through my bum. I freaked out but stayed as I felt the urge to poo. Eventually I passed a small amount and when I wiped myself there was like mucus and a bit of blood. I stared at the paper and froze thinking oh my God this is it? There was a bit of blood in the loo also, but not much and it was red.
About 30 minutes later I was off to the loo again, same situation but when I wiped I wiped front first then looked at the paper and it was clear. Then wiped back and it had a bit of blood. So the blood came from the bum not the front.
I had to get the grocery shopping done as I had the inlaws coming over for dinner. At this stage I wish I had not offered. Anyway at 2.32am this morning I woke for a pee and had the urge to poo again. Same thing happened and more blood. I worried and thought ok. The hospital said, call if there is blood and pain. So I felt so stupid but still I called and glad I did. Cause nurse was very reassuring and said that it looks like I have hemroids. She said to make sure I am not bleeding from the front and that bubs is moving still. She said the heavy ache I was feeling was because bubs has moved deeper into my pelvis putting pressure on everything.
I am relieved but not comfortable when I need to poo now. What should I do to relieve the discomfort of this problem?
Sorry TMI and very long. Just freaked about everything right now.
You poor thing, that must have been a worry. I didn't get them so I can't offer much help on relieving them but I think I remember reading that you should increase your water intake if you have them. There are creams you can get to relieve symptoms but I don't know if you can use them when pregnant. Perhaps you could call a pharmacy and ask.
Puppies - take metimucil or lots of fibre so you dont have to push so hard.
Unfortunately they might get worse befor they get better. Especailly as they may get much bigger when and after you are pushing the baby out! then get some rectinol to help relieve (not sure if you can use during pregnancy.
they are awful, had them myself with previous bubs, and they may be worse after baby is born, mine were really painful. As the others said increase fibre and water, drink some fruit juice, you can use Anusol while pregnant, does relive it.
Hope you feel better soon,
Thank guys,
Funny thing is that I have not been constipated. Even though I have been on extra iron tablets due to a low iron count. So not sure why this happened. But so far I have been feeling a lot better but I am increasing my fluids for sure.
I've had them too and not been constipated - the pressure the baby puts on the area is enough to cause them sometimes. The girls are right though - increased water and fibre intake is important to keep the movements soft so it doesn't aggrivate them, even if you are not constipated. Anusol is fine to use, but other than that you sort of have to put up with it... (sorry). It's quite scary seeing that much blood in the loo when pregnant isn't it!
