My question is:

Is it possible to begin dilating without losing bits of the plug??

I have been feeling what I can only describe as "wind pain" low down (under my belly) and was wondering if maybe this was things getting started (or just infact likely to be wind pain).. I have a few days till my due date and have not had a show...

My friend is six days overdue with her little one, was checked yesterday & was found to be 4cm already. She hasn't lost any plug, had any contractions or anything, so it is possible. It's her second baby though which I'm told can be common.

Yep! I was in established labour and didnt lose my plug until just before i started to get urges to push and was then fully dilated. My waters never broke either and had to be broke before i started pushing.
