    Which way should I lie?

Had my 36wk midwife appointment yesterday. The baby is head down, yay! It's back is on my left side and legs on the right. So I think it's kind of lying like on it's side iykwim. You can feel the back through my tummy but it's also a little on my back too and needs to swing around a bit more anterior. Hope that makes sense.

So, she told me to get on my hands and knees and rock a couple of times a day. I was also wondering when I lie down which would be the best side to lie on to get bubs to move the right way?? I can't figure it out. Or does it not matter?

Thats almost a really good possie, (I read it first differently so am just changing what I've said lol) as the mw said, just work on how you are positioned a bit. Have a look at the spinning babies website, www.spinningbabies.com. At night lie on your left hand side with your top leg bent over a pillow and your bottom leg straight, that's the best possie for sleeping as baby's back goes a bit more anterior. No slouching in couches, sit on the floor yoga style or a straight backed chair and also sitting backwards on an upright chair if you can. Instead of sitting at the comp in a computer chair maybe get a fit ball? That's what I use now not just to keep my body active but to help her go lower in the pelvis.

Anyway, most of that info is on the spinning babies website, optimal foetal positioning.

    Cheers,

    Beck

    Thanks Aphrael!
I do have a fit ball and tried to sit at the computer with it but it makes my eyes hurt for some reason!! lol. I don't know why, maybe because I'm moving a bit and it's hard to read??

Reading the spinning babies website it seems to me the baby is in the optimal position, Left Occiput Anterior. Hmm....
Now to keep it that way! lol. I think it's been like this for about 4 wks or more though.

when I was heavily preg I sat on my computer chair backwards (leaning over the back) and that was good!Just try to keep your knees lower than your hips when youre sitting, shouldnt matter which way you lay - as long as youre on your side

All the best darl, not long to go now!

Oooh.....how come knees lower than hips??
I think my knees are a bit I higher than my hips on the fit ball coz I sink down...

It just leaves more room in your pelvis so bub won't turn posterior and can engage
    try the backwards-on-chair trick

Ok, sitting backwards on my chair now, lol. More comfy actually, my tailbone doesn't get sore.

My knees are higher than my pelvis with the fit ball too, but I'm trying to encourage baby's head into my pelvis as much as possible so I'm constantly moving, its quite comfy now I've gotten used to it and good for lower back pain (or preventing it as I dont seem to have a problem with my back).

I think the mw was saying your baby is a bit too posterior, her back is more to the back of you than your front. Can you feel baby's bum on the front left side of your belly? If so then your right!

    All the best,

    Beck

Yeah I can feel the bum and back down the left side of my tummy! And am getting kicked in my ribs on the right.
