constipation ouch + after - help please !

    hi all,

i am 28 weeks and i havent been too constipated through my pregnancy, twice maybe?

but last week it was bad, never like that before. anyway i got over it and finially i was able to go to the loo after lots of prunes etc. but now i have a little lump on the ouside of my bottom hole ( how else to explain that with out being completly gross, sorry ?)
it has been there for three days since i was able to go.
any suggestions, what is this? should i be worried? what should i do to make it go away?
i am not sore and no longer constipated?
    help!
    how embarrasing !!!

Could it be a hemmoroid (I have no idea how to spell it!) you can get those from both pregnancy and constipation

It could be a 'roid or could be a bulging vein from the pressure ie like a varicose vein but they are more likely toward the end of you PG when bub is heavier. If it doesn't hurt then don't stress too much. Just be mindful of it and be careful when you're going to the loo JIC

Probably an external hemmie/bulging vein. When you are pregnant, the babie is restricting good blood flow through your lower veins, so if you are straining (such as with constipation), the blood builds up and "pokes out" through the skin. If its itchy, then fair sure you are dealing with a non-reducible roid. They basically are varicose veins around the anus.

Lie on your left hand side as much as possible for optimal blood flow out - and do everything possible to avoid straining. Prunes, high fibre solutions - Laxatives as an absolute last resort and consult with your HCP on which one to use if you have to. Basically my doc told me to wait until you absolutely *have* to go. I got one from all the coughing.

Its usually best to get them checked if you are pg, but they recommend 1000% to see your doc if it bleeds or is dark in colour - purple or blue.

They usually clear up in 2 weeks, but bear in mind it can take longer for pregnant women. The heavier pg you are, the more room baby takes, the more restricted the blood flow through your nether regions is.

    HTH.
