So I am 32 weeks pregnant and have been experiencing the following symptom for the past four days now. My pelvic bone and groin muscle area seems to be sore and achy. When I walk I feel like my hips are going to fall right off. It also feels like someone punched my pelvic bone.
During the last trimester the pregnancy hormones cause the ligaments in the pelvic area to relax in preparation for the delivery and it sounds as if that's what's happening to you.
Applying direct pressure really helps, although you can look a bit odd walking down the street with your hand on your crotch (!) and keeping your knees together when you get up out of bed - roll onto your side then push yourself up into a sitting position while swinging your legs down to the floor. If it gets to be a real problem see your midwife or a physio for some support.
Bub could easily be moving around and settling a bit lower - the combination of the slightly laxer ligaments and a babies head can bring you to tears (I really felt it with my first and didn't know what to do with myself).
Hopefully things will settle down for you over the next few weeks.
Not necessarily.
You will most likely find she will drop further...and this doesnt mean that she is engaged, or any reflection of the state of your cervix.
My DD dropped about hte same time, and I thought I was going to waddle forever! lol
Then she dropped again at about 36 weeks - I didnt realise there was anywhere left to drop to! I ended up going 41+1 with her.
You still have several weeks to go so your ligaments and pelvis will continue to move and make room for the baby - she will put on about 12oz a week in the last 4 weeks of gestation, so she will be much bigger than she is now and your body needs to make room for her and prepare for birth.
