Is this what I think it is

I am sitting here and my belly is moving in regular movements but it appears that I can see and feel bub breathing??

At my antenatal on Wednesday bub was head down. but about 5-10 cm below my breasts is where I can see and feel these movements. I held my breath so i know it wasn't me and I also took my pulse at the same time so I know it wasn't from that

it is totaly weird? Could that be it? The baby moving with its breathing? if so how cool

I don't know exactly what it is, but I have had the exact same thing happen on quite a few occasions. I know what you mean about it looking like they are breathing. It is really weird and I would love to know what it is!

Nic, apparently yes it is. I had the same thing happen to me a few times now. It happened when my midwife was doing a check on me and she sat there and watched. Took my pulse etc and said it was definately bub. She had never actually seen it happen before. So there you go

Do they breathe?? I thought they just practised swallowing.. hence hiccups etc.

Liz, they don't actually breathe as such but they do practise breathing. Often you can see bub practicing on a late term scan too. On my 4d scan our baby was seen breathing.

I just had a scan to check fluid levels as i'm overdue, and the baby was practising breathing on the scan.

My obs said it was a good sign of fetal wellbeing (i.e. the placenta was still working well).

Liz, I love your ticker pic hun

I think it all depends on how bub is positioned too. As to how well you can see it.

heh - thanks Trish - that ones a few weeks old now actually.

All I can see moving around in my belly is little feet! I can almost tickle her feet most of the time... makes her squirm LOL.

Liz, I wish I could see little feet. Instead of a fat head bopping around !!

hehe - well it should be her bum poking out of my belly, but I'm assuming she's still posterior with the amount of limbs I'm seeing LOL. Poor little girl gets no peace tho, what with Tallon climbing all over me all the time and pressing in on the belly, and me tickling her feet. She probably feels she can fend us off better with her feet! hehe.
