35 weeks and morning sickness getting worse!

    Hi everyone,

All through my pregnancy I've had morning sickness and I've been on maxolon for it since early in the second trimester when things didn't start to clear up - I'm 35 weeks now. For the past couple of weeks despite still taking maxolon my nausea and vomiting have got worse. My Obs says ( very sympathetically) "tough luck" and I just have to put up with it but I am wondering if something is going wrong. Maybe the maxolon has stopped working, or maybe the hormones have got so bad they overwhelm this med - I just don't know. I can't brush my teeth at all without gagging and vomiting - it would be sheer luxury to have a fresh tasting mouth again. I wake during the night to vomit bile - its absolutely apalling. It really affects my mood and I have had severe depression before and am fearful of that coming back - as well as my concerns over keeping my medication down, and the health and growth of my baby.

Does anyone have any advice or similar experiences? Am I to expect it to get worse over the ensueing weeks? Or could it clear up? Do I need to see my gp about it?

    Thanks heaps for your thoughts.

    Hi Tarn
You could try a drug called Ondonsetron (Zofran). It will often work when maxalon does not. You will need a script for it so you will need to talk to your Dr about it.

    hi Tarn

I'm so sorry to hear about your morning sickness, especially that its been so bad for you throughout your whole pregnancy. And for it be be getting worse now too... :hugs: hang in there

A friend of mine suffered from hyperemesis (medical name for severe m/s) and was hospitalised twice due to dehydration. She used homoeopathy remedies throughout her pregnancy for this, made up for her by a homoepath to meet her specific needs. She also had to make some dietary changes which really helped. You need to eat liver friendly foods as your liver has to deal with the filtering of the high level of hormones. So something like a carrot and beetroot juice, or a salad made of grated beetroot, grated carrot and live yoghurt is really good, as are ginger, garlic and onion. Soy milk, pawpaw, fresh or dried, and rolled oats are all good too.

I would definatley see your GP for a chat and a second opinion. If your current meds are not working for you, and things are concerning you, then you deserve to be heard. I swear by my GP who I only started seeing at 24wks. He addresses absolutley every concern and really makes me feel that I am an individual , a unique mother to be, not just the next in line coming through the OB's door. The care really pales in comparison.

I wish you all the best and I dont know if I have helped or not in some way, but in the very least I really hope you start feeling better soon.
