    Work during pg

Just wondering I'm almost 32 weeks and I'm exhausted I can't catch my breath and can constantly feel my heart banging away and starting to get anxiety , mild spd and a worsening prolapse
I'm not due to start mat leave till 1 April but have enough sick leave left to cover the 4 shifts I have left
Do you think it would seem dodgy if I took sick leave off and start mat leave now?

My job involves lifting, I hardly get to sit still , stress

I also have a 1yo to look after when I get home

If you get a medical certificate your employers cannot do a thing.

agreed, plus its an OHS matter if youre feeling too exhausted to do the job safely. I had to leave work as I was having trouble in a physical job while I was pregnant

Have an honest and open conversation with your boss and get a medical certificate to cover the time until your Mat Leave starts and stay home.

Sorry you are feeling poorly, you don't need work making it worse.

Unfortunately I don't have a very understanding boss when I needed a bit of time off last pg she told me pregnancy is not an illness but she can't say no to sick leave if my dr agrees
I just thought I'd see what every one thought I don't feel very confident because my workplace is not very nice to people needing sick leave

Also I'm only on half shifts already due to anxiety and depression

If you get a certificate you're all clear. If you're really breathless and your heart is banging away you should get your iron checked. Mine was really low a couple of months ago and I had lots of trouble catching my breath and thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest it was pumping so hard! I still get a bit breathless now but it's more squishing of my lungs by bub. You'll feel exhausted too with anaemia. But still take the time off and rest if you need it you don't want to run yourself right down

Do not let your employer make you feel guilty about taking care of yourself whilst pg. Get that medical certificate and do the best thing you can- look after the mother of your babies!

I recently resigned from my job for similar reasons. Illness, exhaustion, and a slimy pr*** of a boss who just didn't ever cut me any slack.

Put yourself first just this once.

I was taking one iron tablet and Spatone twice a day as well, still took about a month to get my levels back up but feeling much better now I can breathe and don't feel like I'm going to pass out all the time.

I start mat leave on the 1st of April too I hoped they wouldn't think it was an April fools day joke when I put it in Can't wait to finish!

Yeah that's why I was taking the Spatone no constipation. They wanted me on something like 325mg iron supps a day, there was no way I was going to escape constipation on that dose! The Spatone worked well and didn't have any trouble at the tail end. I hope you're feeling better soon you need lots of rest too. Sorry your boss is a bit ignorant but if you have a doctors certificate there's not much she can do. Still makes you worry though. I had 4 and a half months off at the beginning of this pg due to HG and it caused big dramas at work I thought and almost didn't have a job to go back to, I was really stressed. In the end I think they realised it wasn't going to be good for them to do the wrong thing by me and I had work when I was better. If you only have a few shifts left and leave o cover it then look after your health and take the break

    Re: Work during pg

Jelly I had to leave earlier than expected too as between all the GD crap with insulin and scans and monitoring and pelvic instability, my gp gave me z medical certificate with no hassle at all.

Just get the certificate and TELL them you will be leaving immediately. They can't really argue it and you will feel much better not stressing about those last shifts
