Red face Worried that SHE will be a HE!!!

I am a little worried that my baby girl is actually going to be a baby BOY!!!

I got confirmation at my 20 wk scan that the baby is definitely a girl, I saw the 3 little lines and all that but I am worried that maybe they got it wrong!! I have painted the nursery all girly like and have bought pink clothes and my mum has a huge pile of pink stuff. But..... what if a willy ends up coming out?!?!

I wanted to go in for 1 last scan, but my doctor said NO! He's an old fuddy duddy and I expected him to say no. I soon go for my check ups at the hospital so I hope they will let me go in for one last scan.

Maybe I am just being a little stress head... I am sure that everything will be fine and a little girl will pop out....

That's right! A few minor adjustments if you must, or you could leave the walls pink as a kind of anti - gender typecasting stance

Even though my scan said boy I still left tags on all the boys clothes so I could exchange them and only had gender neutral clothes washed and ready for the hospital JIC there was a mistake on the u/s. I was quietly hoping for a little girl in there though

    It does happen.
My best friend was so lucky to fall pg with only one tube. She and her new husband just found out that they were having a girl at the 20wk scan. Tragically her husband was hit and killed a week later and she struggled to keep the pg going to full term due to stress. She had heaps of scans as she was in hospital for most of the pg and each time it was still a girl, but when bub was born it was a boy.
Luckily her family repainted the nursery and bought some blue clothes by the time she came out of hospital..

I was exactly the same! I would've been upset if it was a boy though because I'd already bonded with coco. But if you saw the three lines I would relax! I understand though and I couldn't believe 100% until she was born!! xo

I am a bit like that too. I've been told that my baby is a girl, but at the last scan she was in a position that they were unable to confirm it. So even though deep down I know that she is a girl, I am still paranoid about buying anything pink or ovely girly.

And I agree with Danni and Sammi-j - even if the scan got it wrong, it's not the end of the world. Baby clothes can be returned or given away and rooms can be repainted. Not a problem really.

I've hadl some similar thoughts but vice versa, but I just keep telling my self it doesn't matter as long as it's healthy all the stuff we bought is just material possesions. Tell you what if we're both wrong I'll trade you some boy stuff for girl stuff

Thanks everyone. And you are all right, if she turns out to be a boy then its OK because I have HEAPS of boy stuff from my sis that I am holding on to and repainting the room is simple - i love painting anyways.

LOL Rebecca - good idea with the trading clothes but I am sure that we are both OK

hi, interesting name there Ngala. I am having my 3rd child. I have 2 girls already and never found out their gender until birth. With this one I asked around the 20 week mark and was told its going to be a BOY! So my eldest daughter (15yrs who wants a brother, and my other child - 4yrs wants a girl) and thought since we are the only two to know would keep it a secret....Well anyway, had to have a U/S the other day for bubs movements and asked the sonographer can he tell me what I am having?....Just wanted to see if the first one was right to get my mind clear...lol.... He turns and says (after showing me) Its going to be a GIRL!!!.... LOL.... So now I am neither here nor there with it..... Just glad I got neutral colours for clothing...hehe..Either way the bub is going to be loved all the same....Good luck with yours

1st time mummy - not too long and you get to see if its a girl or not!! I guess we all go through these moments of stresses but as long as the baby is happy, that is all that matters.

Sandy - lol.. atleast you know now that its a little girl and there is probably no mistaking it at this late a time, but still, you never know. Love you girls names by the way. Oh and Ngala, is actually my dogs name. hehe We got it from the lion king cause when we brought her home as a pup, she looked like a little lion prowling around the place!

Oh Veronica, I'm exactly the same - and I had an AMNIO!!! So it is truly 100% confirmed that my little one is a boy but I still have a niggling thought at the back of my mind!
I think it's all normal crazy preggy woman stuff!

I think that's part of the reason why we decided not to find out. Mostly, we just wanted a surprise, but I think I also would've been worried that they got it wrong.

Don't stress about it. Most of the time they are right and as the others said if they weren't, it's just a few minor adjustments.

    Hi all,

I have also been told that I'm having a girl...have a girly nursery and pink 000 clothes (although I foolishly cut out the labels - if it's a boy I'm sure he'll look fetching in them until he graduates to 00).

I was just wondering what are the 3 lines you are talking about that you saw on your scan?

    Cheers,
    Shontelle

Hi Shontelle, congrats on your girl.

The three lines that I saw on the scan would be the vagina. They were just 3 short lines close together, the sonographer showed us this and said that it means girl.

    Thanks Veronica,

Will crack out my 20 wk scan video and go over it with an eagle eye...I am pretty sure we'll be safe as the scan was very clear and there was no sign of a willy...but I guess to be 100% I'll just have to wait until she's born.

    Happy incubating!
    Shon xx

I know what you mean, we know the gender of our baby, but every now and again I think "but what if it isn't???"

Like everyone has said, clothes can be exchanged, given away etc, paint also easy to fix. We've got names for both boy and girl just in case the US was wrong (but given ours was done by an obstetrician who specialises in US and genetic testing I think we're fine).
