    Movements

    Hiya,

Just wanting to know is it normal at this stage of pg (almost 28wks) for bubs to have some quiet time - ive been feeling movement but for the last day and a half seems like bub has gotten lazy (but I managed to get 3 or 4 big kicks last night after dinner).

    TIA

    Lisa

Lisa - i had that as well around that time. I find that i would have a really active few days, and then a few quiter days. And then, just when i would start to get really concerned, all hell would break loose down there, and i wished for the quiter days again.
As long as you are gettting something, and when in doubt, have a icy cold glass of water, or lemonade, and lay down for abit. YOu will be sure to get something.

    Hi Lisa

I think it is worth ringing your Ob or Midwife. I am sure it is nothing but it is worth just checking with them. I am sure they will help put your mind at ease.

I feel exactly the same. I posted last night about movement and positioning & Allan replied it is ok for bubs to have some quiet time around now.

I too am getting more kicks after dinner. Although I have had a lot whilst out doing a few things this morning.

I think we are due the same day too......... I am due the 18th August!

Also, i found if i was busy, or pre occupied, that i would be focusing more on what i was doing, and not what bubs was doing, so i possibly missed some things as well. And also, keep in mind that when you are active, tends to put bubs to sleep.
EG - yesterday, i was out and about from about 8am till 3, and i hardly felt bubs move at all. This morning, i am just at home, on the net and doing abit of washing etc, and it is kicking like there is no tomorrow!.

Completely agree that if you're focused on what you're doing, movements are easy to miss. At my last ob appointment, I complained that I was only getting about 6 kicks a day. He had a listen and said actually the baby is VERY active, you're just not feeling him.

Well, over the next few days, it seemed like I was getting about 30 kicks a day, I was just watching out for them more.

Then I got completely addicted to the whole 'feeling the kicks' thing and one night was up between 1.30am and 5.30am because the baby was dancing around (not painfully) it was just so nice. Silly billy! Was exhausted the next day.

I've started a 'baby kick chart' and I record how long it takes bub to give me 10 kicks. Sometimes he does the kicks within 2 mins (lol kick city) and other times it takes him over 30 mins. This morning it only took him 2 mins LOL. I find though that if I'm concentrating on something I don't notice the kicks as much, or he doesn't kick much when in the car (I think the movement lulls him to sleep) or even if I'm standing up, the kicks are harder to feel. I read that as the baby gets closer to being born they need to rest more.

Lisa, the best way to make sure is to lye down on the couch, with a big glass of ice cold water. If bubs hasn't moved within 30 mins then you should contact your midwife/OB. I had a similar thing happen and freaked out. Ice water should get bubs kicking along, they dont really like it, but its good reassurance for you.

    Hope all is well.

    Hi LisaL

Yes I agree with everyones comments, that babies have their quiet days. I found this always used to happen, especially after a few days of being really active. Another thing I realised was that on these 'quiet days' is that I could not feel the baby move unless I actually had my hand on my tummy. Also if I have had a busy day I am less likely to notice any movements.

I am also 28 weeks, due in august! Yay to the august mums and our winter bubs!
