Bunbury Schools and surrounding areas (ie Australind, Dalyellup, etc)

    Hi All

Ok, Im after you opinions regarding the schools available, good and bad, pros and cons, including Kindy, Pre-Primary, Yrs 1 onwards. (ranging from facilities, teachers, neighbourhood, etc).

Regardless whether you child already goes to a public or private school, if you could send you child to any of the Public Schools in the area, which would you choose and any particular reasons?
Likewise with Private Schools, if you could send you child to any in the area, which would yo choose and any reason?

Feel free to PM me if you have any thing else to add.

    Many thanks

    Kylie 

I think I have said this to you before : - ) but DD goes to Parkfield PS in Australind. DSD finished last year and DSS also went for a year and enjoyed it. They do a lot of activities but also a lot of the basic. Most of the staff are experienced and work really hard.

Cooinda has a great reputation...my older daughters went there for year one and two before moving to Dalyellup which is just so big now feels a bit overwhelming...however with the new high school opening next year it will relieve some of the burden as the year 5s will be using the high school.

Bunbury Primary I hear mixed things about...mixed range of social contexts, but it is in a lovely area and close to town. The traffic is painful though. I used to pick my girlfriends son up and it was a nightmare!

Parkfield (Australind) is great....lots of positive things said about it. The principal seems to have a good reputation.

Eaton primary is ok..my brother is a teacher there though and isnt that happy...doesnt like the buildings and says its a bit gloomy.

Glen Huon (in Eaton)..I have a friend working there and she loves it...they seem to have some innovative things going on there.

South Bunbury seems to be pretty good as well...havent heard anything negative about it. My next door neighbour is a teacher there...

Private primary schools..i know St Mary's has very positive reputation. That is located right next to South Bunbury. One of the teachers has gotten a few awards for her reggio emilio stuff. Grace Christian I used to go to playgroup there..seemed a bit hard for me but thats just me.

Picton..my middle daughter went to kindy there and while we loved the year we noticed a definate mixed range of people.

Carey Park and Withers primary schools are in more rougher areas. That doesnt mean that the school is bad but if you are new to the area it doesnt take much to work it out.

Adam Road..my hubby did a few teaching pracs there and absolutely raved about!!

Hope that helps. Best of luck
