We use a Smash insulated bag then a variety of boxes inside depending on what they are having, but usually fits something along the lines of a sandwich in individual box, small container with a muffin or crackers in it, yoghurt squirty, fruit either by itself or in containers. We use the tube type container - i think it might be a nude one as it fits in the water bottle holder on the side but we use it for watermelon or other fruit and water bottle goes in side pocket of the school bag. Our smash bag has a mesh section inside on the flip lid and it holds a ice block when needed.
I've just bought from Big W a Smash insulated lunch box for DD and a set of Sistema containers. We have forty-five thousand Tupperware containers but my DD can't open them - this feedback came from the kinder teachers. She can handle Sistema (I think!) so I grabbed some of them.
The Smash lunch box has a zipper compartment on the outside so I bought a flat Decor ice brick that will slide in.
Drink bottle I think I will just stick with the plastic ones we've been using this year - they've lasted pretty well and DD knows how to refill it. They are just the cheap ones from Big W, Barbie Thomas etc.
I'm going to sound like a bad mum, but my kids will only take a smaller bottle as a large one makes their bag too heavy and they don't take them out in the playground as its a pain for them to carry everywhere. They just use the bubblers. Water is important here and the teachers are really great at reminding them all often.
Thought I should update this thread since my little preppie is going into grade 1 now. We ended up getting heaps of nudie ones and they've been great! I put them through the bosch dishwasher every day with no problems :) just purchased some tupperware from a party recently too but haven't had a chance to use it yet.
Lol at all ya'll with your awesome nude lunch boxes. I wish I'd kept it now to send photos.
Maybe my dishlex is hardcore. But spending $40 on two lunch boxes (and covers) it annoyed me a little ;) We had the large ones... I wonder if that makes a difference. Yet my cheapie decor ones ended up being the go to when the nude ones broke.
nah, I'm not a fan either. Mine warped and they weren't even washed in the dishwasher. DD1 keeps her craft stuff in them now lol.
Must have a look at the Fridge to go ones, though DS is set on a spiderman set.
For containers I just use the systema ones now. They aren't terribly water-tight if you want to put watermelon or anything in them but they do the job.
I use sistema quaddies they have three sections in the lid, no problems with watermelon leaking. They pull apart in the dishwasher and it survived 6 months with dd1 unlike the nudies.
