    Orientation... what happens?

Marisa starts orientation at school this Thursday for three weeks (three Thurs) - what do they tend to do? Its for about 1.5 hours I think, with their teacher and the kids. Is it just fun time like story reading etc? We are so looking forward to it, Marisa is so excited - but I think the main reason is because she hates rest time in kinder and wants to get out of it LOL!!!

Every school is different, but at ours they did a story time, drew pictures about their buddies (they met their buddies for the following year) and learnt about what they do at school, the layout of the school and so forth.

It is VERY exciting I can't wait to see Ris in her uniform!

Kelly, its such an exciting time for them . Chelsea started hers last week and each week they do something different. First week was a quick introduction in the library and then story time, this week was sport, next week is music and last week is drama and time in their prep room.

Hope Marisa enjoys it more than rest time at kinder lol!!!

With Kamerons school he went every Wednesday for 5 weeks prior to the term he started in.

e.g he started in school in Term 3, so he did 5 wednesdays during Term 2.

The first 2 weeks they went for an hour at the end of the day. The 3rd week they went at 9am till end of recess. The 4th week they went at 9am till start of lunch, and the last week they did a full day. The transition kids in our school do normal classroom activites.

Erin will start hers on the 2nd Nov. They do a 4 day program with 2 half days till 1pm and then 2 full days till 3pm. They do a variety of stuff, games, drawing, painting, reading etc in the classroom, then they are taken around the school to get familiar with it etc. On the last day they are also allowed to use the canteen and are taught how to go and buy stuff etc.

It's not going to matter what they actually do, the kids are just so excited to be there that the first part of the orientation is lost because they practically bounce off the walls LOL.

My Caitlin is in Prep this year and they did some songs from the school production for the kids who came over from the local pre school.

I think Cait also did a tour of the school with the principal.

It's exciting ! But I'm wondering if there is a let down for prep mums the following year ? Cos they're not the new kids anymore, 'just' grade one ?

    Good Luck !

J started her orientation a few months ago and she's loving it. They spend 1.5 hours in the class and do the same things as the other jobs. We just recently bought her uniform (as they wear them to orientation) and she just loves it!
