    Perthies....

We are looking at Private schools that are k-12 for our DD. So far I have noticed that they are all religious, except Montessori and Steiner which we are not considering. The problem is we are Atheist. I don't have a problem with sending DD to a religious school but I don't like religious education.

Anyway I am just looking for anyone who jas been to, or who's kids are going to any private schools in Perth (preferrably NOR) and what your experience and opinions are on them, particually the religious education. I don't really mind DD have some religious ed, as she is welcome to her own beliefs, but I don't want to send her somewhere where they brainwash or go overboard with it. Any info would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Hi
we are sending our oldest to a private Anglican community school (sorry - SOR) and my hubby was a bit worried about the religious aspect of it. It seems that they just teach a broad range of religion - ie all of them in re and use the anglican values in the school but not brainwash/do anything too radical. we're very happy with the school - although he's only in kindy so i guess we should wait but it does seem really good.
Good luck in finding one that suits you

same i went to penrhos which is uniting church and we only had religious education once a week and i remember they were more like 'morals class' or we wud make stuff for charities etc so wasnt too bad (my family is also aethiest and so am i)...but i kno that catholic private schools hav religious education everyday...so prob best to go an anglican/uniting church private school.

I was raised Anglican (but do notidentify as such) and have worked and attended both Catholic and Anglican schools.

I'd def say the Anglican is far more relaxed.

Also it may be hard to get into a CAtholic school if your baby is not christened.

    Hi there...

Good luck choosing schools. It's a hard decision. We moved to Moerlina 2 years ago, an independent community school in Mount Claremont. It's pre-K to year 7. My daughters (8 and 5) are very happy. It's one of the few schools around that offer multi-age classes and inquiry based learning. I'm a little biased though - not just because my daughters go there - but also because I run a maths club at the school and it's the highlight of my week!!!

Good luck in your search... jojo
