I have parent/teacher information night for my year 2 class this Thursday and sometimes I have wondered in the past whether what I talk about is what parents actually want to know.
Ours is coming up next week, basically I will be asking my childrens teachers how they are fitting in with their class and whether they participate and feel comfortable around the other children. If I think of anything else I'll pop back.
I usually want to know how they're coping with school work, their strengths and weaknesses. If there are any areas they need extra help with and what I can do to help etc. I like it when the teachers show me work they've done and tell me what they're studing and whether they're enjoying it or not. I like to hear about how they interact with other kids, whether they have or are forming friendships.
I also listen carefully to how the teacher talks about them. It gives me an idea whether they are connecting with each other.
