This is word for word, I'm a bit confused.

A is going well with the school work as A need to spend time at home to keep up with school work. Good start for the term tho. Well done.

So he's doing well but needs to do more work at home to keep up. So this would mean he is falling behind? So far the only homework they get is a maths sheet weekly. He is also their literacy teacher, spelling of though. It's not even a word to shorten especially as a note to parents. What do you think?
