I love to make a version of snow balls. Add some cocoa and roll them into little balls and cover them in coconut and whack them in the fridge. YUMMY!!! If you have some choc chips add them and put it in a slice tin and then cover with coconut. Refrigerate it and then cut it up. YUMMY!!
Oh cr@p ... :redface: I just cook the condensed milk (or regular store-bought caramel, not as good though), crush the mari biscuits and mix together. Put sticky yummy evil-no-no's in a bowl, get in front of the TV and eat the whole lot!!!!!
I have the most awesome yummo ** LEMON SLICE ** recipe if anyone is interested :dance:
... Can be made with Marie or Arrowroot biscuits BUT Granita biscuits taste the best in it :D
(I buy the tin of condensed milk from Aldi ;))
oh yes please for lemon slice
Ok Feeb ... just for you i will ;) ... Will be back later tonight with it ok :D
(I've made it few times now ... and make it for my DD's birthday party, well for the adults anyhow ... and a few guests came up to me dropping a hint to keep some extra slices aside for them to take home ;))
Mmmm, lemon slice. Would love the recipe too please. :)
I love granita biscuits and never even thought to use them. Guess what I'm making on the weekend? ;)
********** LEMON SLICE **********
(Note; I add 1teaspoon of ground ginger to the base, tastes that much more delicious ;)
Also at first it might seem like it's not enough icing BUT once spreaded out it honestly is perfect. Oh, i don't have a processor so i put the biscuits in a plastic bag & crush them with a rolling pin. Can decorate with desiccated coconut on top of lemon icing.)
* 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
* 100g butter
* 200g Granita biscuits
* 1 cup desiccated coconut
* 1 lemon, rind finely grated
+++ Lemon icing +++
* 2 cups icing sugar mixture
* 40g butter, softened
* 1 lemon, juiced
Method
1. Grease and line a 3cm-deep, 15.5cm x 25cm (base) slab pan (see note). Place condensed milk and butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring, for 4 to 5 minutes or until butter melts.
2. Place biscuits in a food processor and process to fine crumbs. Combine crumbs, coconut and 2 teaspoons lemon rind in a bowl. Add hot butter mixture. Stir until well combined.
3. Press biscuit mixture into prepared pan. Refrigerate for 1 1/2 hours or until firm.
4. Make lemon icing: Place icing sugar mixture, butter and 2 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice in a bowl. Beat with a wooden spoon until smooth. Spread icing over slice. Refrigerate for a further 30 minutes or until icing has set. Cut into pieces. Serve
Notes & tips
* Lining a slab pan: Lightly grease the base and sides of a slab pan, paying particular attention to the two short ends. Cut out a sheet of baking paper, allowing a 2cm overhang at each long side. Use the overhang to lift slice from pan in one piece.
Thankyou Lorelle you wicked woman......oooh I use a hammer (well Darcy does) as we don't own a rolling pin.
Peppermint crisp slice is my fave atm.
ooooh niliac that hazelnut slice is what I am looking for sounds awesome.
It is. It always gets gobbled up. Very easy indeed :) In fact I feel like some now ;)
it will last about 2 seconds in my house my husband will devour it in no time flat, he then leaves a tiny bit just so he doesnt feel bad about eating it all lol - so cute
smiles4u thanks so much sounds yummy will need to make some!
Jelly slice! :)
Crush bickies, bind with melted butter, chill for 20 mins or so. Mix condensed milk with a bit of gelatine, pour over biscuit base, chill until nearly set. Make raspberry or port wine jelly according to packet and cool. "Rough up" the surface with a fork (trace criss cross pattern on it), pour cool jelly on top and set in fridge overnight.
My aunt makes an awesome dessert slice thing with arrowroot bickies and condensed milk, I can't see why you couldn't use marie biscuits.
Break the biscuits into small-ish chunks, put into a bowl and cover with condensed milk. Add some slivered almonds. When the biscuits are starting to soften, put them into a loaf tin or place onto some foil and make into a log shape. Refrigerate until solid. When solid take out and cover with melted dark chocolate. Refrigerate again until chocolate is hard and then it is ready to slice & serve.
It is sooooooooo yummo and has been a hit in my family for years & years.
I love mint slice, the one with crushed crown mints, yummmmy yummmmy.
